Is there an update on supoort of browsing the Library by Album/Genre etc. with Plexamp in Android Auto? I’m a new PlexPass user and I just can search the library via alphabetically ordered Artist names in the AA User Interface. This is extremely annoying e.g. when the library is big and you have sorted in different genres and want to find stuff quickly and correctly. Also an optional tile view would be great to see covers and not only text listed when browsing albums. Appreciate your reply and support! Many thanks!
Hi @elan !
Since 3.4.7, the AA side of the app is broken.
It doesn’t auto-launch (previously, every time I launched AA, media controls was there. Now, I have to manually launch the app to have them pop on screen)
And Autoplay (for my case, next album) is broken again.
Everything was working fine on 3.4.6 (not sure about autoplay but 100% sure about media controls)
There haven’t been any changes there, so you might need to be more specific than “broken”.
We made a small change to avoid the notification appearing which may have affected Android Auto, but there was no intent to do so. Impossible to diagnose without more details like a debug log. FWIW I cannot reproduce. I kill the app with music paused, and then start Android Auto, and the music shows up paused in the home screen of Android Auto.
Hi Elan, sorry for the late reply but I wanted to test this behaviour a certain number of time, given you told me there shouldn’t be any issue.
First of all, sorry for the “autoplay next album” thing, my wife was simply selecting music from the download section, instead of the regular library. No problem here
For Plexamp autolaunch on AA, it’s kind of random on my side. Here are some logs, grabbed right after it failed to autolaunch.
Hope it helps, and thanx in advance

Whenever I’m in my car and use the Google Assistant to ask Plexamp to play something, it thinks I’m saying “Plex app” and opens the regular Plex app rather than Plexamp. Is that a known issue?
yeah we’ve been trying to add assistant support for a while, but it’s proven … tricky. still hope to provide it in the future!
I’ve been there. The bandaid solution is say “Plex A-M-P” seems to work without opening the Plex app.
Does that actually trigger playback in Plexamp from the voice command?

Yeah we don’t control this, that’s something on the Google Assistant servers that is trying to guess what you are saying. If you are already in Plexamp and playing something, or it was the last media session, then you should be able to use Play [the thing] and it should send [the thing] to Plexamp and we will start playing [the thing].
I’ve had hardly any success getting Play [the thing] on Plexamp working when it wasn’t the last media session. I also get very mixed results in the Plex app. I believe there is some special sauce/indexing on the Google side that needs to happen for it to recognise our app name.
I have the phone always connected to the HU inside the glove box and when I open Plexamp on AA I often notice that the “Mixes for You” item is missing and the “Stations” folder does not contain any elements.
This happens when for some reason the server has gone offline but even when it is reachable everything is available except for the above. Pressing the “Retry” button on the phone does not add the missing items I have to disconnect and reconnect. Very annoying when the phone is not at hand.
