Here’s hoping for continued development of Plexamp to bring new features and awesome possibilities to enjoy our music. We love Plexamp and are excited to see what you have up your sleeve, just please make sure it is well baked unlike the Plex app from March. The Plex app has gotten better with each update but hopefully Plexamp will be free of the issues that the Plex app experienced.
I would be in heaven if I could more easily create sonic adventures, and save sonic adventures, edit sonic adventures, combine sonic adventures…. all powered by my library + a backend streamer for the songs I don’t own. Limitless joy.
That’s really all I want
Looking forward to the update. This is the longest we’ve ever waited, so it must be good!
Seriously, 7 months is a long time in the history of Plexamp updates. Especially considering that a lot of the functionality is objectively worse after Tidal integration was removed.
Wow. That’s disappointing to hear. I use Plexamp 1000x more than Plex for movies (and Plexamp is 100% the reason that I became a customer). But it’s starting to feel like Plexamp is the bas+ard stepchild of the company.
Plexamp is actually the only reason I continue using Plex over Jellyfin. I use Plexamp on my PC’s, and Android phone. In the event that Plexamp’s development ends, I’ll have to switch over to Jellyfin. I’m honestly not looking forward to that effort, so I hope the company continues useful development of its ecosystem instead of chasing data mining or AI features no one asked for.
My view is that Plexamp currently has everything I need to play my “private music collection”. I don’t care about integration with streaming services. If Plexamp was never updated again, it won’t bother me as long as it continues to work as is. Sure, the Downloads interface could be more like the normal non-downloads interface, but I can live with current implementation. I’m just so happy that Plexamp isn’t like any of the garbage music streaming service apps or even the monthly price for Roon. My cheap lifetime Plex pass was an extreme bargain and none of the monthly fees. Thank goodness Plexamp was developed !!
I did read an interesting article about how software is never considered “complete” or “final” in a way which other things are. I use Plexamp daily and it meets most of my needs.
However, that’s not to say I haven’t been working on new stuff. It’ll be released when it’s ready.
99% of the music I listen to is via playlists hence tracks from different albums.
Plexamp only does album level replay gain (well actually it’s PMS analysis data), and the evidence of this is my ears - I am constantly increasing and lowering the volume
All I want is a cloud streamer like Tidal again. I miss being able to import playlists from anywhere and have them “just work”. Or to turn on one of the DJs (like Stretch) and have it add tracks that I’ve never heard. I became a customer after all of this was part of Plexamp, so to me it’s a core part of the experience that was removed, not something “extra” to what I originally paid for.
I’ve read that article too, at least it sounds familiar. Though I’m pretty much in agreement that Plexamp is the best app for private music libraries, period. There’s always new fancy nice-to-haves, but I think Plexamp currently satisfies the goal of “stream my library” very well. Not to downplay everyone else’s requests, of course, this has just been my experience.
It also has best in class UX in my experience. I cancelled Spotify because I just can’t go back to their muddy cesspool of a library experience after getting used to Plexamp.
