Plexamp audio glitchy on Kubuntu 24.04

I moved over to Linux for the first time on my main PC this weekend, and have been noticing that audio in Plexamp is randomly glitchy. I’m running into short digital distortions at random times. It might only happen once ever hour, but seems to occur the instant I input a command on my PC in another program. It last happened when I hit enter on a terminal command. Is audio in Linux not super stable, or what? Hoping this is super rare.

I’m running the latest Plexamp 4.11.1 on this Kubuntu 24.04 machine. Streaming from Plex server 1.40.4.8679 for Windows 10 on another machine.

Ah, Linux on the desktop! Always a year away…

The glitchy audio is only happening in Plexamp. Haven’t noticed it in any other app. Any ideas?

I’m sorry, I don’t. I haven’t heard of this before, but Plexamp does operate with a fairly short audio buffer so as to be able to perform real-time effects, so it makes sense it would be more sensitive to any audio system issue.

Interesting to know. Thanks for sharing. I guess I’ll look into how Kubuntu manages audio.
