Not sure if this is a bug or working as intended, but when I play an album and let Plexamp continue on autoplay after it’s finished, it repeats the artist’s discography. Example: artist X has 2 albums in their discography, i play album Y, autoplay queues album Z later. After album Z is done playing, Plexamp will add album Y to the queue again, and then album Z again, and it seems to repeat ad infinitum.
On Settings > Playback I have autoplay enabled, and Album Direction as “Next Album”. Maybe this is the “intended” behavior but it’s not desired behavior, IMO. I would prefer if it played a similar artist’s album, or started a radio.
EDIT: this seems to be working as intended, so the point of this post in the end is to question this default behavior of looping an artist’s discography if left unattended.
Just tested this and it does the same behavior whether or not the Play related music when your play queue ends is on or off. Do you have that checked also?
Not sure if its supposed to be that way or not. But having a related artist or radio start up based on the artist would be nice.
Play an album until there are only 4 or 5 tracks left.
Swipe the player screen upwards to see the “Up Next” section.
After the last track should be a badge which shows how to Keep Playing.
I assume it currently shows “Next Album”, but you can swipe it left/right to other choices, like “Artist Radio” or “Similar Tracks” etc.
There is indeed that option. I guess I’m questioning the default behavior, cause this started bothering me when I just leaft some music playing in the background unattended and Plexamp basically started looping an artist’s discography.
If you set it to “Next Album” and there are no other albums of that artist in your library, it has no other choice than to repeat the last album.
One could argue that in such a case, Plexamp should ignore the order to play the next album. But I have a hunch that there will be people who won’t like it.
Isn’t Next Album always the default? Or does it remember the last used setting? In any case, the ideal behavior for me would be next album until it plays all albums, and then something else. Not sure if there would be a consensus on this though.
