Plexamp compared to Apple Music Lossless

Hi
I have just spent the best part of a day (in the garden on a Sunday - so not feeling too guilty) comparing the new Apple Music Lossless and Apple Digital Masters to other smartphone players. I used a pair of Campfire Audio wired earbuds and Apple’s own external DAC - (lightening to 3.5mm jack).

I compared to Tidal 16/44 Tidal MQA Apple Music AAC (lossy). Then, just for ‘kicks’, Plexamp (16/44 downloads and 16/44 streams from Tidal - I pay for Tidal via Plex Pass - I had forgotten).

To my amazement, Plexamp is considerably better than Apple Music Lossless!

Kudos to the Plexamp developers. I mean, how did they achieve such a feat of engineering? It’s amazing. I’m very disappointed at Apple. I had such high hopes.

Tidal via Plexamp is also better than playback from Tidal app on iOS too!

I am still in shock and I had previously questioned why anyone would need or want the Plexamp app!

Now all I need as a consumer is for Plex Media Server to take on Roon like functionality to allow me to stream my CD music files and Tidal to my Hi-Fi DAC over my home network or similar.

I am now totally convinced Plex have the technical nous for high quality music streaming.
