I have plexamp on my phone and that version is amazing, imagine my surprise when I found out there’s a desktop version.
It is the android app ported to windows and as such is missing some of the features that would make this shine.
in-app volume control (I know I can change app-based volume in windows but is not straightforward
minimise/maximize/close buttons
-contextual play/pause/skip buttons (when you hover the app icon in the start menu you should have media controls buttons)
if you are using more screen real-estate it should display multiple sections (visualizer, lyrics, album cover - all at the same time)
Not 100% true, the whole app is written in React Native, which makes it multi-platform, not ported from one platform to another the devs went into some detail in the initial blog post here if you’re interested:
This can be found as a volume slider under the cast menu in the app, or bound to keyboard shortcuts from settings.
This wasn’t ever included in Plexamp, even pre-3.0 due to the goal of being small, light-weight, and sort of widget-like on desktop. You can use the taskbar icon to close/minimise the app, by right clicking or toggling, and there’s always Windows’ keyboard shortcuts, too
This would definitely be nice to have, but unfortunately has been non-trivial to implement on Windows. It may come in a future update, but does in fact work on Linux and macOS already.
There are definitely improvements that can be made to larger screen situations (including desktop and tablet form factors), and the devs have expressed interest in looking at this in a future update!
