Plexamp - distortion on one device same settings

I have 2 iPhones an X and a 14 pro max. the settings within plexamp are the same.

  • equalizer on
  • pre-amp +4 (default)
  • Equalizer preamp gain +3
  • Audio output = strict
  • loudness leveling on

when playing with the 14 pro max audio is great audio on the X is 100% distorted. Had to move the equalizer pre amp gain to -3 to even it out. happens both bluetooth and wired.
how can I resolve the issue? I want the x to use same settings as 14 pro max.

Different hardware may require different settings.

Another thought. Check your volume settings on the iphones. Does one Iphone have a max volume limit set? And the other is maxed out?
