I already have the preamp turned off and loudness leveling turned off.

Try switching Audio Interface to AAudio in advanced settings.
Thanks, I did try that. No difference that I noticed.
Try setting the preamp to the max instead of turning it off. Though I’m not sure if it would do anything with volume leveling turned off.
Maybe also try disabling the limiter and/or raising all the bars in the equalizer.
Should not be a need to configure limiter, it only applies with loudness leveling.
Shouldn’t be a need to configure EQ and can lead to distortion.
Disabling loudness leveling will make a difference.
On some Android phones switching between AAudio and the other one can make a difference. Make sure you force quit the app after switching to force it to use the new device interface.
OK, so i tried this as well. Maybe it made a slight difference, but it is still softer than my other music apps on the same phone. This is with loudness leveling disabled, the preamp setting set to +6, and every line on the equalizer above the midpoint.
Again just to reiterate.
- Reset EQ to 0 (tapping bands resets them) and disable EQ. This should never be needed.
- Disable loudness leveling.
- Preamp gain only does something if loudness leveling is enabled.
- Set Audio Interface to AAudio.
- Force quit the app (swipe away).
- Restart the app.
- Play something.
If it plays at lower volume, post logs, but bear in mind that some other music apps do dynamic volume adjustments to make the output louder.
Thanks, but I tried all these steps and it does not help. Volume is still significantly lower.
i’m sorry, but i’m out of ideas given that i haven’t heard anything else having the issue after changing settings, i’m at a loss…
I think this may be an issue with Android 11 itself (I’m on a Pixel 4). I have other apps where ReplayGain Pre-Amp does absolutely nothing whether it’s on 0 or +15 but will work in the negative direction. foobar2000 seems to be the only app I have that will actually apply a positive Pre-Amp. Not sure what they are doing differently.
Unfortunately, I am on Android 10.
