Plexamp Ending Tracks Halfway/Early

Running Plexamp v4.12.0 on Windows 11 (but have noticed it on IOS as well).
Plex Server Version 1.41.5.9522

For the past week or so, some songs will play half way, then suddenly it will skip to the next song. If I go back, I can ‘complete’ playing the song, so I don’t think the file is corrupt etc. Happens on random songs.

I have logs if you’d like me to send. Happening 1 in every 5 or 6 tracks currently on my windows computer.

Error occurred at 10:31AM. Song that was playing was Kinks - Catch Me Now I’m Falling, plexamp skipped to Pink Floyd - Welcome to the Machine about halfway through the song.

Just for completeness - I’ve uninstalled/resinstalled Plexamp + restarted the computer. I’ve also restarted/updated the Plex Server. Server is running on Ubuntu.

Just happened again. Log attached. Happened at 12:00pm.

Song playing Def Leppard - Bringin’ On the Heartbreak skipped to Public Image Ltd - Rise.

Hmm, I’m a bit confused at the logs, not seeing anything really abnormal. It looks like the stream ends normally from everything the app can see, no errors whatsoever.

I’m not sure what to recommend; is it always the same tracks? Does it reproduce? If you clear the cache, does it reproduce? Do you see the issue on mobile too?

I’m wondering if the OS (some key combination I’m hitting or a bug) is skipping to the next song… but I assume this show up in the logs, no? Would the server logs help? Again, probably not I’m guessing…

If the OS were skipping it would show up, and I don’t see that.

lol Sorry! OK, it doesn’t seem to reproduce - though I just had one instance where skip happened, then I went back and it did happen again, but when I went back a third time it played through normally. Just happened on the song Spacehog - In the Meantime. First skip was at approx 8:42/3am, next skip was at 8:44am then it played through. Log attached.

Confirmed not able to reproduce. Song skipped, backed up and replayed song, no skip.

Also, have not seen this on any other device/platform - seems to be isolated to a single device.

And I have cleared the cache recently.

And you don’t have any weird proxies between device and server, right?

No proxies, agreed.

Just an update. Did a full uninstall, delete AppData/Local/Plexamp folder, download latest version of plexamp, reinstall - no fix. This is a corporate computer, so there are additional security applications running (Cisco Umbrella,…) and upstream network security etc; however, issue happens both at work and home (this is on a laptop). Seems to be isolated to this single device though…

So this was why I asked if there were any “weird proxies” :sweat_smile:

No ‘weird proxies’ - in a pretty open university environment, but there are the usual security applications in place.

Can you try with the latest release and see if you still observe the issue?
