The magic in Plexamp for me is its automated Mixes for You, Guest DJs, and Stations. It’s enabled a complete rediscovery of my ever-growing music collection by continually pulling out tracks I had not heard, or had forgotten about. Unlike Apple Music, it’s drawing upon my entire library.
However, it sucks when in the middle of summer the automated DJ or mix decides to throw in Christmas tracks or a song that was just played a couple of days before. I am left with little choice but to watch the music queue with vigilance and vet the annoying wrong genre of music and repeat plays.
Plexamp could really use a global filter in its settings that allows users to filter out music that they never want to be selected for Mixes for you, Guest DJs or Stations. In my case, I have a substantial Christmas music library that has been categorised with the genre “Christmas”. For 11 months of the year, I would like to prevent any music from this genre from being selected for mixes. I would also like to prevent Plex from selecting music that has been played within 30 days and has a rating of less than 4 stars. Perhaps another user may never want a song by the Beatles selected for a mix, or songs that have been played more than 20 times.
It would be wonderful if we could build a filter to control the music which is automatically selected.
