PlexAmp full Offline controls and support

The extra complexity wasn’t worth avoiding the case of duplicating the occasional track, at least for now.

Potentially, apologies if it is. I was just echoing the comment above - I don’t have a device with and SD card slot to confirm.

The lack of offline support is a dealbreaker for me, too. I have a very limited data plan and previously used Google music. I had a few different playlists, but I generally had a “thumbs up” list that ran somewhere around 100 hours of content that I would shuffle for driving. The Plexamp released motivated me to give Plex a try instead, but I haven’t even finished assembling my library and I’m already past the 24 hour sync on my playlist, which means additional songs won’t show up in my downloaded lists. This is a pretty silly limitation.

Also, if I restrict data to the app (even with “prefer downloaded music” checked, I somehow racked up 200+ megs of usage in 2 days?!) everything stops working. Can’t browse the songs or albums that are downloaded to the phone. Plex can access local content; why can’t Plexamp?

Hmm, sorry I don’t get what you are talking about?

You can download your whole “thumbs up” playlist and you also can browse the offline tracks.

How do you browse offline tracks? I get the following screens when trying to browse or search tracks while offline:

The only way to use music offline is to navigate to downloaded playlists and either hit “play” or “shuffle.” You can’t select a particular song out of the playlist to play, you can’t search for a song that’s been downloaded to your phone, and you can’t download a playlist longer than 24 hours. This seems like pretty basic functionality that’s missing.

Hmm, ok you are right. I never noticed, that the 24hr limit also applies on custom playlists.

And I overread the “browse within playlist”. You can only browse individually downloaded albums.

In the end Plexamp is not a normal audio player. Plexamp should provide a unique experience centered around radios and mixes and for me this is often exactly what I want.

I just moved my music library from Google Play Music to my Plex NAS server. I set up Plex on my android phone and synced my music. Works great. I download my entire music library to my phone to save data usage and when I don’t have a Wi-Fi/cell connection.

I hear about Plexamp and like that it is just my music. I download app and like the look but then find out I can’t down load my complete library for offline use. Why not. The plex app did.

I hope this changes. Until then I have to go back to full plex app.
