Plexamp Headless 4.10 - no audio

I’ve installed and reinstalled Plexamp Headless several times on my Pi 5. I’ve tried the two different scripts in here and Plexamp IS up and running, can see my server and music. However, music stops immediately after I try to start it. I’ve tried setting audio device to both default and default audio device.

My only available output is bluetooth headphones and they work fine with Plex Web and all other audio applications on the Pi 5. To my eyes it looks like an audio initialization problem (which, of course, lines up with the symptoms), but I have no idea what to do about it.

with Plexamp headless, using bluetooth audio output might require switching to a systemd --user service, described here

Thanks. That helped a little and made things a little worse. Now Plexamp shows it is playing, although no audio is coming through. After a reboot, the user service isn’t coming up on its own despite enabling it.

If I reboot, open youtube video and play something, I can hear sound just fine. If I then start the user service, Plexamp loads, and I can start playback of music, but no sound is playing. If I try playing anything else (like youtube), it is also silent. Stopping the user service does not make audio playback work again. New log attached.

Correction: It now seems to launch automatically at boot, but still kills audio on the machine.

in the new log, looks like default audio output is still selected … might need to use browser interface (pi5:32500) and select pulseaudio as the output (i’m guessing pulseaudio is where your bluetooth device is selected?)
