Plexamp (Headless) not setting HDMI channel mapping

First of all: Thanks to the Plex team for developing a headless client! It allows me to cast lossless music to my AV receiver, while being fast & stable with track seeking etc. This way I don’t need DLNA (which is neglected by Plex anyway) and don’t need to rely on unstable 3rd-party UPnP casting plugins.

But I’ve got one issue: My headless client is connected via HDMI and the channel mapping is always set to 5.1. This makes sense when playing surround tacks, but most of the time Plex should set the HDMI output to Stereo.
I’m using the ALSA driver. When playing test sounds, the channel mapping is correctly set to Stereo. But Plexamp always uses 5.1 (which is probably the default?).

Proposal: Maybe a new setting under “Audio Output” beside “Sample Rate Matching” called “Channel Matching” with the same sub-settings Disabled, Smart & Strict? Or maybe set the correct channels when strict sample rate matching is used?

What do you think?
