Plexamp on MacOS does not use the configured audio output channels

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252-a78fef9a9
Player Version#: 3.2.0

I have a large number of audio output options on my sound card - 72 channels in total. My default system audio outputs are configured to be 49-50 (this is configured in the audio devices control panel). All other audio apps use these channels, but Plexamp only uses 1-2 - meaning I cannot hear the audio played. This is kinda ■■■■, because there was no demo available and I had to pay for plex pass just to find out that there’s a bug making it useless for me.

Is there any solution?

If you’re not happy, you can always request a refund on your PlexPass.

We might support those sorts of advanced configurations in the future, but I don’t have any timeline.

Advanced?! You mean outputting to the system defined device?! Come on.

So anyone with a sound setup with more than two channels can only use Plexamp if 1-2 are the main outs? Incredible

you’re kind of coming in here with guns a’blazing, and it’s not very helpful.

Not really “gun blazing”. Just astonished that a media player, on version 3, doesn’t pay attention to the defined system outputs and is just blindly coded to 1-2. Seems fundamental to me.

Also I’m not trying to be helpful, that’s should be your role here. It’s my own fault for paying for a product which doesn’t offer a demo or trial. That’s never a sign of quality.
