Plexamp [headless] Raspberry Pi skipping tracks with sample rate matching enabled

I’m listening to one of my big genre-based smart playlists through the new RPI beta (3) and I’m noticing that every once in a while as I’m looking at the plexamp GUI on my mac that it looks like at the end of a given song, plexamp is rapidly skipping through 1 or more tracks before settling in to play a next track.

I also noticed this happen one time yesterday when listening to an album (and not a playlist) where it was much more noticeable.

Mostly it has seemed to me like it was just skipping 1 track, but just now I happened to be watching and it looked like it rapidly shuffled past a handful of album art covers before continuing to play. I quickly paused playback and used the back button in the GUI to go back to the skipped tracks and there were 5 tracks all suddenly skipped.

I then stopped the service, and started trawling through logs. There is a lot of context clipped out but here is what I found in the log that seemed relevant.

cat .cache/Plexamp/log/Plexamp.log |grep "already played"
May 08, 2022 15:43:41.001 [Javascript] DEBUG - PlayQueue: Removing already played track: 78391
May 08, 2022 15:43:41.171 [Javascript] DEBUG - PlayQueue: Removing already played track: 78392
May 08, 2022 15:43:41.352 [Javascript] DEBUG - PlayQueue: Removing already played track: 78393
May 08, 2022 15:43:41.420 [Javascript] DEBUG - PlayQueue: Removing already played track: 78394
May 08, 2022 15:43:41.731 [Javascript] DEBUG - PlayQueue: Removing already played track: 78395

I’m not sure how it’s determining what is “already played” or how far back it’s looking to determine if a track has been “already played”, but I am sure that the tracks it skipped were not ones i am aware of having listened to very recently.

Please post full logs; rarely will people extracting snippets give what we need

LOL - was trying to do that when you posted but the full log for that one second is too much for the discourse limit. Is it safe to pastebin plex logs? Nothing in there i need to redact?

NM - I DM’d you the log for the second where those 5 tracks were skipped.

You can zip the whole log folder. Then drag the archive into the message editor here.

Just a note to update this issue.

This issue persists with beta 5 and @elan has narrowed it down to an issue with sample rate matching. With sample rate matching on, plexamp on my RPi (3b) will sometimes skip one or more tracks in a playlist. With sample rate matching disabled, there is no track skipping.

Beta 11 still skipping tracks for me with sample rate matching = strict.

we haven’t fixed this bug yet. use smart mode for now.

Bumping this so it doesn’t auto-close and also to ask if anyone else is seeing this same issue on their Rpi installs.

Should hopefully be fixed in the next release, let us know if not.

Been listening to a randomized playlist with various different sample rates with strict sample rate matching enabled using v 4.3.0 and I have yet to see it skip a track. I think this is fixed. Thanks @elan.

Glad to hear, thanks!
