Plexamp headless Setting. Player > Show volume control?

This setting is on the web interface of plexamp headless. Settings > Player > Show Volume Control.

I expected this setting to not display the volume on the player? What is the setting meant to do if when off the volume still displays?

Hi , you control the volume withe controlling app, that will display the volume bar.

My question is what does the setting “show volume control” do?

As this setting is turned off, yet volume control is still shown on the player shown in the image.

It has only an effect when not casting content to other devices.
Your screenshot shows you have connected Plexamp to an external device.

i think the example given shows the web ui for headless, and the headless device itself (not an external device) is selected in the cast menu

when using the web ui in this way, the “show volume control” setting does work when side-by-side player layout is used … but the setting does not have any effect when not using side-by-side layout … it seems like it should work for both player display layouts

Thanks @OttoKerner . How can headless pi work without casting?

Or is this a control for other plexamp versions that is not relevant for headless?

Its only visible at certain size/aspect ratios of a landscape screen… On any device. It really seems like it’s actually an error that it remains at these small amount of conditions when its turned off? I understand why UI displays more or less to fit any screen though.

I’m seeing on the WebUI that with Side-bySide On, Show Volume Control Off will work, but if Side-bySide is Off, it doesn’t work (Volume Control is shown when setting is Off).
Bug

I’m beginning to think this too. Sadly volume shows on my 5inch touch screen ,800 x480. I have hardware volume on my pi dac hat.

It defaults to enabled on the browser, not entirely sure why I did that, will revert to make it obey the setting there for the next release.

wow thats awesome. Appreciate your work on plexamp so much.
i have a 5 inch touchscreen on the pi (lol headless, i know) with plexamp web ui in kiosk mode. Because i have hardware volume on the dac hat it sort of makes the volume on the UI redundant. It’s working absolutely awesomely and just about sorted all minor technical issues.

Any build-guide with parts for this somewhere on the web? Might be something I would like to try!

I’m documenting to some degree. I’ve found the pi world is very much diy and bringing all the little bits of info you find together in one. And that’s probably specific to each case. For the screen I used the waveshare 5 inch DSI which was plug and play even thought they said it wasn’t. Bought directly from waveshare
