@elan Not sure what your preferred method is for feature requests - did not see a dedicated thread for it. So I hope this is ok.
It would be useful to have a setting on a headless player to set the volume to fixed - so that when connected to the player on IOS in Plexamp - you can’t effect the volume out of the headless player.
As well when connected to a headless player - the iOS volume immediately matches the player - causing issues on the iOS device for any other app outside of Plexamp
Use case is in a system where the player is being used as a more traditional source - and a separate amp or preamp (multi-room matrix or AV receiver for example) is providing the volume control.
FWIW I would love to see this feature too if it’s possible to implement. I always thought it’s weird that when I connect Plexamp iOS to headless Caldera, the volume on my phone instantly goes to max level. I believe this issue also existed with headless Plexamp.
It’s a bit strange to me how Plexamp can affect the volume to begin with when the rest of my signal chain is a DAC at fixed volume and an amp, which ought to be the only thing that controls the volume.
Having the iOS volume not change when playing Plexamp is also great when I resume using my phone for other things and don’t get surprised with the speakers on max volume.
settings > playback > remote control > use hardware volume … disable this to avoid having your phone volume set itself to max when you connect to headless
once this is taken care of, it’s easy to avoid changing headless volume level (and keep it at max, or wherever you want it)
