Plexamp history picking wrong album

I listened to an album and noticed that Plexamp showed that some tracks belonged to a different album than the one I listened to.

Why does this happen? While they are “the same” track, they are not the same version of the track. They are not tagged with the same information. For example “Tifa’s Theme” as showed in the history is tagged as “Tifa’s Theme (Piano version)” on the album I was listening to, and the artist is tagged with Nobuo Uematsu, not Seiji Honda. From what I can tell, only Plexamp history shows this wrong album.

This is particularly annoying because “Go to album” shortcut will take me to the wrong album, not the one I actually listened to.

I’m sorry, we track plays by track identifier on the server side.

How does it match the tracks?

I can see that it can be useful for certain things, but in this case I feel like it handled in an unwanted way. It should keep the correct version for the history regardless. I didn’t listen to that other album, even if the track is based on the same arrangement.

It’s based on musicbrainz recordings. It’s nothing to do with the client, this is how the server/metadata works.

Can I turn off this particular behavior somehow then?

no. it’s just how the data is stored.

Allright. Then I’m highlighting it as an area with room for future improvements.
