I’m finding Plexamp keeps cutting off the ends of songs. I’ve ensured I’m running the latest version of the app (uninstalled and deleted the config folder, then reinstalled) and have tried disabling cross-fade.
It isn’t every song, but certainly the majority for me. When I disabled cross-fade, it seemed to make it a hard cut-off, rather than the cross-fade starting awkwardly when the outgoing song was still mid-verse. It’s happening towards the end of the song, but definitely not at the end.
Is anyone else seeing this? Is there anything else I should be trying to fix this or lock down on the root cause?
Me too.
Exactly the same symptoms. It makes PlexAmp unusable for me.
Also running the latest version, 1.0.5.
This doesn’t happen from the same PC via the WebApp, or from any other device internal or external to the Plex Server environment.
Server is latest running on Synology, in case there is commonality there…
It doesn’t happen on all songs, just enough to be noticeably annoying. Replaying the same song usually allows the song to complete normally.
That’s a good call, OppyLock. This is happening with the PC app for me as well. I’m not using PlexAmp on other platforms, so I can’t comment on whether it repro’s elsewhere.
As for other player types, I use the web, iOS and Xbox One players and they all don’t exhibit this behavior.
My current suspicion: there is bad data in our libraries about when a song ends for cross-fade and PlexAmp is the only player looking at that data. I don’t know how to fix that, though.
Been having the same issue, it just “thinks” the song has ended and starts crossfading in the middle/towards the end of the current song into the next song.
For me it feels (no facts here) like it happens more often if I pause/resume the player at random times throughout the song. Also the previous song plays just fine when skipping back.
Might it be that PlexAmp is un-correctly tracking the current play position? My library is decently small and plays just fine in PlexWeb so can’t imagine it’s a faulty file.
I’m using Windows 10 and the latest PlexAmp (1.0.5), don’t know if its related.
I’ve now been using PlexAmp on my Macbook and this issue does not reproduce there, so it appears this is a platform-specific issue on Windows. Admittedly, I can’t validate this on a Mac that isn’t also hosting the server.
To summarize what we seem to know so far:
Windows-only
PlexAmp only (including the latest version after fresh install)
Cross-over enabled/disabled doesn’t affect the issue
Not every song, but many songs
Server host doesn’t seem to matter (my server is running on a Mac, OppyLock’s server on a Synology)
It would be great to get confirmation from the PlexAmp team that they’re aware of this issue. My plan is to keep this thread alive until either knowledge of this is confirmed by the PlexAmp team or it’s fixed.
If someone is aware of a more direct way to submit PlexAmp bug reports, please let me know as I’m happy to do so.
I’m also seeing this issue as well and it’s pretty infuriating.
My server is running on Windows, and my PlexAmp is also Windows (haven’t tried other platforms). It only happens for me when playing anything on shuffle (playlists, albums, etc.) If I play an album straight through I haven’t noticed the issue.
I really enjoy PlexAmp otherwise, so I would love for this to be fixed soon!
Good callout, @mitteration! I pretty much always listen on full shuffle, but listening to an entire album straight through there were no songs cut off.
Having the same issue. Was actually coming to the forums to see how to disable crossfade because I thought that was the issue but apparently that doesn’t work according to the above. Guess I just can’t use Plexamp anymore.
