Player Version#: 3.2.1 (Plexamp)
Apologies if this has been repeated, I’ve done a search and nothing particularly relevant has appeared recently.
I’m currently using Library Radio to shuffle tracks in my library. I have a large library, but I’m noticing that a very small fraction of the same songs always seem to be queued. A naive assessment makes me think that an inappropriate random number generating library is being used, because it consistently selects the same songs. Not in the same order, but a large portion of my library never sees any plays.
Is anybody else having this issue? Is this the best way to shuffle tracks with plexamp?
Radios are not intended to be a true “shuffle”, they play a station of tracks based on a few key factors:
Popularity (from last.fm)
Your star ratings
When a track was last played (suppresses recently heard tracks, to keep radios feeling fresh)
If you want something closer to a true shuffle, try using a Plex Smart Playlist. If you log out and log back in to Plexamp, it will actually create an “All Music” smart playlist for you, among a few others. This feature was added in Plexamp 3.2.0.
Additionally, some issues related to the randomness of radios have been addressed in more recent server versions. Try updating your server to 1.20.2
Edit: in 3.2.2, you can also shuffle from any page in the library tab using the overflow menu (accessed via the ... button).
