Creating Sonic Adventures is super annoying because you can only search by exact song title. Can this be changed so that I can search by artist, find the song I want, and then add it to the Sonic Adventure? Because I don’t always know the exact name of a song I want, or maybe I only know a partial title, but since the search only returns a limited number of results, those results often don’t contain the song I want if the input matches a bunch of other songs. This whole process is just too convoluted to set up.
It would also be great if I could create a playlist, and then use every song on that playlist as the input for a Sonic Adventure. Nothing crazy, a 25 song playlist would be fine.
Lastly, it’s been 5 months since Tidal support went away. We still don’t have a replacement (like Qobuz). The shared library thing is nice and all, but I don’t have any friends who use Plex and by definition most people’s libraries won’t contain brand new music, which is often what I want to discover.
Any update? Not having a streaming provider has been a huge regression in the Plex listening experience for me, despite having 80,000+ songs in my library. It also makes the Sonic Sage feature totally useless.
Keep up the great work. Hopefully these suggestions are helpful.
I second your first point. Sometimes I cant think of a specific song title and need to back out and go to the artist page to find said song. Lots of extra steps.
Do you mean something different than DJ Stretch? It puts a three song adventure between songs on your playlist. Maybe I’m misreading what your meaning.
I’ve read that some people link Plex to Last.fm and are able to find other artists through their service.
80,000+ songs! I thought I had a lot with just over 6k. To help with hearing songs I haven’t heard in a while I created a playlist that sorts by Artists I haven’t heard anything from in over 3 months. There are over 1,400 songs in that playlist currently. So, it’s almost like new music for me to listen to
I just meant that instead of manually picking 10 songs (or however many) to create a Sonic Adventure, it would be nice to be able to go to an existing 10 song playlist and choose “Create a Sonic Adventure using this playlist”.
It’s different than turning on DJ Stretch, because that only puts 2 or 3 songs between tracks, while I’ve seen Sonic Adventure put 20+ songs between tracks (depending how far apart musically the two start and end tracks are).
It’s still not clear if Plex is even looking for a Tidal replacement at this point. Without a streaming service to complement my local library, Sonic Sage is basically pointless, and the DJ features are kneecapped. I thought we’d at least have an announcement by now.
