Hi, I also have the same issue on my Nokia 6.1, this is both on Bluetooth and headphones. Are there any workarounds?
Same issue on galaxy S9 with wired headphones. Havenāt tried bluetooth. Donāt prefer it to wired. No issue with spotify, Amazon music, YouTube or regular plex app. I think the guy who commented about the regular plex app having this issue years ago is on to something.
Hey Jim thanks for the heads-up (it was me) ⦠this was the forum thread (from last year) referring to this issue⦠click on this link Static and popping while playing music after upgrading to Android Pie
Wow there are a lot of replies on that one. Reddit is telling me I need to check my settings. Which I did, but why should I need to check the settings for something like this, right? If it happens at all, itās the appās problem, considering no other app has the issue on my device.
Am noticing the same sounds using my Galaxy S7 and headphones. Only lasts for the first few minutes of listening and then goes away.
Same issue here but on a Pixel 3 using the phoneās built in speakers. Unfortunately I donāt have any Bluetooth headphones to try.
Saw the option to switch the audio interface from OpenSL ES to AAudio was added in 3.1. Unfortunately, still no improvement (or with any other settings). Vinyl like popping in Plexamp, same track on same server on same phone and headphones results in clean audio when using the regular Plex app.
Yep⦠Still happening for me, the exact same circumstances.
I am experiencing audio popping sounds listening to Plexamp over phoneās built in speaker, wired headphones and blue tooth headphones. Regular Plex app and other audio apps do not have problems. Song files are mp3 from various sources.
Phone is Nokia 6.1 Running Android 10
I think 3.1 has solved the problem for me (Galaxy S8, Android 9). With 3.0, all playback over wired headphones had frequent crackling and popping, but playback over Bluetooth earbuds was fine.
Oddly, on the day I updated to 3.1 the issue persisted using both AAudio and OpenSL. The next day, the crackling was gone and hasnāt returned. Interface is set to AAudio (I havenāt tried going back to OpenSL). I usually turn my phone off overnight - perhaps the interface change plus a power cycle did the trick?
Yes, 3.1 and switching to AAudio only did the trick.
Huh, I think you might be right on needing a fresh start with AAudio enabled. Came back to it tonight and played the same test track again - clear. Nice!
Switching to AAudio in Settings>Advanced>Audio Interface fixed the popping noises for me.
AAudio may my audio sound less tin-y and also fixed the popping sounds. I changed the setting force closed the app and then opened and everything sounds much better⦠so far at least.
Using Pixel 4 with Android 10 and now since today 11. I did also experience crackling noises with my Bluetooth headphones with Plex Amp, mostly when toggling standby/wake. Switching to AAudio completely solved this issue.
I did also experience the crakling noise with playback on the device (Samsung S8). Switching to āAAudioā in Settings>Advanced>Audio Interface also fixed the popping noises for me. Thanks for having shared this info.
Plexamp looks great and can now start using it. With Chromecast support just being added, I think itās a great app. It is just very frustrating that android user must wait so long before to get working app or have to dig into Forum discussion to find out about advanced and non-default settingā¦
