Plexamp resampler used on Android is atrociously noisy

Pretty much this :(. I have a moondrop dawn dongle DAC and Campfire audio (lower end) IEMs

My dac is showing green color when playing from plexamp which means it uses 176 or 192 khz sample rates.

There’s an obvious background noise when playing 44.1 khz flac files, like a static that is modulated depending on how the song goes, like a …sonic shadow.
Increasing the volume drowns it out, so it’s significantly less noticeable, except for quiet passages of course.

Playing 96khz sample rate files is absolutely flawless though, no noise any longer. So probably plexamp resamples @192 khz , which would make upsampling 96 khz files very easy (thus would explain why there’s 0 problems with this sample rate).

Using a different player (tried Pulsar and the incredibly buggy Roon Arc) also plays all files, even 44.1 khz ones without any noise. These players seem to be resampling to 44.1 or 48 khz, since my DAC shows red color for these

Tried disabling the song fade-in and loudness normalisation, hoping that would change/disable the resampler (those features kinda make it unavoidable, i understand that of course). No change, noise is still there

With more testing, it seems the backround noise dissapears sometimes when closing or opening the screen. While this workaround is not reliable, after a few tries I made the noise go away in every case.

So it’s a more complex hardware software interaction issue rather than something wrong just with the plexamp player
