Plex and Plexamp Hi Res music files plays 48khz

I recently started using Plexamp. It is great player and looks amazing but all the hi res music files plays max 48khz. Same happens on normal Plex player too. Plexamp player shows correct sample rate, for example 96khz. Issue is occuring on iOS, both iPhone X (13.3) and iPad Pro (13.4.1).

I have both flac and alac files and external Cyrus Soundkey DAC shows them playing at 48khz. For example Qobuz and TIDAL streams are playing at correct sample rate.
Also note that this isn’t transcoding issue. No issues with direct play.

I noticed that this has been issue before. Is there any update when this will be fixed?

This is a major issue as lot of people want to play hi res music files and with the release of Plexamp more users, especially music listeners, are coming familiar with Plex.

Same here. Plex plays my all files at 48kHz on iPhone 7 + Dragonfly Red DAC.
It doesnt matter if file is 16bit 44.1kHz or all the way to 24bit 96kHz the Plex amp is setting DAC to 48 kHz (blue led).
Tidal via Plex is also 48kHz while on Tidal app it sets correct kHz with no problem.
Accordingly the issue is limited to Plex player.
Haven’t tried Plexamp.

Well, it appears to be worst than issue. It’s like this by design…

The only way I’ve found to play full resolution music from plex is to use one of the Kodi plugins like Plex Kodi Connect see:

Most likely just works because it uses Kodi core engine to actually open and manage the audio device.

Also PKC supports plex “companion” i.e. remote control, though seems flaky at times.

Of course no sweet fades here or other plexamp goodies.

Not sure if you need a plex pass to use it, but if you’re already a kodi user its worth a spin.
