Plexamp reverse sorting of "Liked Songs" playlist

Hi all. Brand new to the forums but have been using Plexamp heavily for a couple of months now. I’ve been trying to figure out how to reverse the sorting on the automatically generated and managed “Liked Songs” playlist. Right now when I like a song (my rating system is set to 1 star so I can just click and go) it gets added to the playlist but at the bottom. Now that my playlist is getting rather large it’s becoming a bit of a chore to rapidly scroll to the bottom of the list to listen to my past couple likes. Compare this to say Spotify’s liked songs where the most recently liked tracks get added to the top. Ive been looking around the filter settings of the playlist but besides the “Rated” filter (which didn’t end up being applicable) I’m stumped as to how to simply reverse the order of the playlist such that songs rated most recently are at the top for easy access.

Welcome!

You can’t currently archive exactly this inside Plexamp. Closest thing to do currently is recreate it, and set sorting with the … menu. This is the filter rule, so go into tracks and recreate it.

CleanShot 2023-12-27 at 16.26.46@2x

  1. Library > Tracks
  2. Hit the left (filter) button
  3. Add a track rating rule.
  4. Go back to the list of filtered tracks, and hit the … button
  5. Currently there’s no “date rated” sort, but we’ll add one for the next release.
  6. Use the + button to save a new smart Playlist.

Hope that helps a bit…

Hi elan thanks for the quick reply. Followed the instructions but it seems the playlist is still sorted by some other metric (in this case it was by name alphabetically) since the ratings weren’t archived I assume. I suppose I’ll wait for the next release. Glad to hear its something in the works though. Thanks for all the work yall do!

You need to change the sort using the ... menu. Note that you won’t have the “Date Rated” until the next release.

Tried now in the latest update. Works great when recreating the playlist and then sorting by Date Rated as you described here!

It would be nice in the future to be able to sort the default Liked Songs playlist in this way. Otherwise this recreated smart playlist fits my needs exactly. Thanks for the update and your continued work!

Glad it works, thanks for reporting back!

Hello. Bumping this thread because I noticed a small bug that only affects the filtered playlist and not the liked playlist. When I have two copies of a song (for example, in the original album but the song is also present in a compilation) both copies of the song show up in the playlist (and are marked as liked although I only gave a like to the album version for example). This causes the song to play/appear twice in the playlist.

The weird thing is that this is this only affects the filtered playlist for reverse ordering described here and not the regular generated liked playlist. See below an example.
