I’ve always noticed that Plexamp searches do not return items which I know are in my library and I know my music metadata is tagged correctly. Here’s an example: I searched for “Coldplay My Universe” but the search did not return it because the metadata lists the artist as “Coldplay with BTS”. If I search for simply “My Universe” the song shows up in the search results, but it doesn’t make sense that the other search term did not return the correct result. It’s a design flaw that has been an issue for years. I put the same search term in Spotify or Apple Music and it spits out the correct song even if BTS is omitted.

I really love Plexamp. I think it’s the best music player there is for iOS, but these design flaws in how the search operates are a simple fix and I will never understand why they aren’t addressed.

Sometimes you need to optimize the database for it to rebuild the search query properly on the server.

Seems you’re absolutely correct. Thanks for the tip! After running the optimize database command, the search result for My Universe comes up as expected. I will keep an eye for other anomalies if any. Thanks!

Typically the optimize runs every few days automatically as a background task, so you just need to worry about it for newly added content.
