Plexamp support for Downloads to external storage (SD card) on Android

I see in 4.6.2 release notes: “Android: was not possible to selected external storage.” So I assume there is now support for SD cards in Plexamp for Android. I currently have an iPhone, but thinking of a getting a Sony Android based DAP (Sony NW-A306) as it is a new reasonably priced model. I would like to use the SD card as the target of Plexamp Downloads. This would work now, correct ?

Also, can somebody post a screen shot of the Plexamp settings page for Downloads on an Android device. Would like to see how you select the Downloads target location. Thanks!

Yes.

It should, but bear in mind Plexamp wasn’t designed to download massive amounts of media offline.

The download location is selected in Settings > Downloads.

Elan, thanks so much for the response. Yes, I do understand the current use case where Plexamp Downloads are intended for “off-grid” scenarios (air flight, hiking, etc…) and not full blown downloads of an entire library. My remote access (via cellular) has been very reliable for me. But if I had a device with an SD card, I might take advantage by having 100 albums or so stored locally (desert island discs…

However, one thought related to Downloads is to enhance the Downloads main view to be similar in UI of the Library view. That is, present the main view as a categories list (as opposed to the current segregated sections view.) So category list like the following for Downloads and you select one to present that particular view.

  • Artists
  • Albums
  • Playlists
  • Artists Shuffle
  • Stations (i.e. Artists Radio)
