if I stream 16/44.1 FLAC files to any Chromecast device - specifically to my Buchard A500 active speakers - according to Plex Dash the files are always transcoded to Opus. Why is that and how can I change that so the files are streamed losslessly?
I use Plexamp on my Android Phone to access and playback my FLAC media files on my PMP. Plexamp is configured to NOT transcode my files to opus, if I am on my home network. This works well while playing music locally on my phone. According to the faqs in this forum the encoding settings of Plexamp also determines the encoding while using chromcast.
According to Google, Chromecast supports FLAC files even with even higher bit rates than 16/44.1.
Bandwith should not be an issue here.
Since I don’t know if this is an issue with PMS, oder the Buchardt or even Chromecast, I have already written to Mads from Buchardt Audio. He has not been able to help me yet, but I wanted to contact the manufacturer of the stereo hub (Platinum).
