Thanks for the info.
I've done what you mentioned, but nothing apperas on the shelf. Do i need to setup something new?
Hey,
After searching alot on the internet I found this topic.
First let me say: Thank you for continuing the support on the plexbmc plugin :).
I installed your lastest version (plugin.video.plexbmc-v2.0b4.zip) on my XMBC for the rasberry PI (Raspbmc). Streaming works up to 4mbit 720p (full hd doesn’t start).
That’s not the main issue as I suppose the 1080p probably isn’t working due to the raspberry not being powerfull enough.
The main issue is that subtitles aren’t working for any of my video’s.
here’s my log if needed: http://www.degoeiekanjt.nl/xbmc.log
Hi there,
I have installed the lates plexbmc addon (2.04V) on my raspberry pi. I was able to install it, but when I run it I get a script failure message.
I have attached the log file. Would be nice if anybody could help me out on this.
Thanks!
P.S. Sorry I have only attached a partial log…here is now the complete log!
Will PleXBMC work when the PMS is across the internet? Basically, I want to run this when I run XBMC while traveling away from home. The average internet connection when traveling is 1.2mbit at hotels, etc so I’d need PMS to transcode - I think the PleXBMC client would need to tell it to do, correct?
thx
This is the beauty of myplex :)
I’m using plexbmc-v2.0b4 on raspbmc rc4. Plex server is 0.9.6.7 running on windows 7 64-bit. I can get videos to play fine through plexbmc, music I can browse, but when I try to play it, it acts like I didn’t hit enter on it. I looked through the xbmc log and plex server logs, didn’t see anything that helped me troubleshoot.
Is playing music broken with the versions I’m using? Is there something I possibly need to tweak to fix?
Hey hey guys,
This may be just me but there has got to be others with the same problem I’m having. I would love to get plexbmc working but sadly I have yet to achieve that. I have tried a hand full of different builds and configurations with no avail.
The problem i think is the way my DSL modem handles DNS’s and IP’s. DSL modems have “Nat Loopback” disabled as a security feature. The problem is that if you are trying to access your external IP from INSIDE the network it doesn’t work. Even with a DNS name assigned to my IP I am still unable to access PMS with plexbmc from inside the network with my external IP.
Sorry if this is confusing anyone reading, trust me, It took me a long time to figure out why all this was happening.
Now if I understand correctly, from reading the log files plexbmc asks for tokens from the PMS running.

17:26:45 T:140697684403968 NOTICE: ===== PLEXBMC STOP =====
(I replaced the ends of my IP with XXX's)
The problem is that it is asking for the tokens from the IP of the server running. My HTPC running OpenELEC is INSIDE the network. So, plexbmc is never going to be able to access PMS with the myplex authentication token method.
I also tried just manually setting the LAN Ip of the PMS. No dice.
Specs:
HTPC: Running Openelec XBMC eden w/ plexbmc-v2.0b4
Server: Running Windows 7 with Plex Media Server
DSL Internets on Actiontech Q1000 modem.
Router Dlink Dir-825 w/ no NAT loopback feature.
And that is where I'm at now. Maybe someone with a better understanding can help a guy out? Thanks guys.
@Wdog118;
It’s late here, so excuse me if I missed this detail, but are you saying that both plex server and plexbmc are inside the same network?
If so, can you browse to 174.16.x.x:32400/manage/ ?
Alternately can you browse to 192.168.x.x:32400/manage/ ?
And, if you leave your network and try to connect from the outside, can you then access plex/plexbmc?
Thanks for the relpy.
174.16.x.x:32400/manage/ does NOT work.
192.168.x.x:32400/manage/ DOES work.
(capitals for emphasis, not ‘shouting’ haha)
I can access PMS from outside the network on the plex app for my iphone. I have not left the network to test to see if plexbmc works.
Even when i go to https://my.plexapp.com/servers where i am logged in and I can see my server. When i click on “plex media manager” from that page it won’t load. I am assuming that rout takes me through my IP address outside the network.
Edit:
Just tried plexbmc on my ipad with XBMC tethered to my iphone’s 3G network. Plexbmc script failed.
In efforts to get my music not working issues resolved I tried installing a skin that was modified for plexbmc. I tried the quartz on page 1 of this thread, but it told me “unmet dependencies”(or something like that and wouldn’t install). Then I noticed that hippojay had been making updates recently to https://github.com/hippojay/quartz so I tried downloading that as a zip file and install that. Everytime I try to install this, it ignores the zip file and just downloads the standard quartz skin.
As stated earlier in this thread I’m running this on raspbmc rc4. Are there any updated working modified for plexbmc skins? If so how do I get them installed?
@Wdog118:
I had the exact same problem; my cheap-ass DSL modem/router doesn't support NAT loopback either, so the links using the external IP didn't work.
I fixed the problem in PleXBMC myself and it works like a charm for my situation. However, Hippojay didn't agree with my changes and didn't pull them into his code. You can checkout my changes and our discussion at gitHub and build my version of the plugin yourself:
https://github.com/hippojay/plugin.video.plexbmc/pull/1
https://github.com/pdegeus/plugin.video.plexbmc/tree/eden
I've downloaded: https://github.com/hippojay/quartz/tree/plexbmc and installed this zip file.
And still when I load this skin, I don't see an option for ' PleXBMC Integration' anywhere. It seems like none of the plexbmc integration is there?
The older skin works great, but no shelf support.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. This addon is awesome!
Thanks I'll take a look at this. I just find it ridiculous that DSL routers are setup this way. I never had any issues w/ cable. Thanks for the insight.
This took me a while to work out as well.
Basically when you're looking at the repo you'll notice there are two branches.
One is the master and the second is plexbmc. What's happening is you're downloading from the master branch. Change from the master to plexbmc and you'll get the correct version. :rolleyes:

**Once it's installed, you need to select the option in XBMC to 'go plex' and it will integrate correctly.** Hopefully that helps. I'm not sure if the shelf stuff is working though.
Really really weird. Things were working perfectly for me with Plexbmc and the modified quartz skin, but I tried to install it on a new system and I can't for the life of me get the 'go Plex' option to show up anymore. I also tried installing it on my desktop, and again I can't get 'go Plex' to come up anymore. I'm not sure what changed from before. I'm nearly positive I'm using the exact same zip files that I used before.
Actually I just realized that before I was using a folder where I had manually changed the home, includes_variables, and includes_shelf xml files myself to the ones updated for plexbmc. If I just go to ‘downloads’ on github and download the zip, even when I’ve selected the Plexbmc branch, I get a a zip that doesn’t includes the changes to those xml files. Is there a way to download the zip on github with the plexbmc changes?
I noticed though that I'm only seeing this behavior with Plexbmc. If I'm using Quartz with my XBMC libraries, the views are remembered.
Nm, I figured it out. I'm used to going to the downloads section and downloading it there. Here you need to hit the "ZIP" button to the right of "Clone in Windows".
Everyone - I’ve been on holiday/vacation for awhile but I am still working on plexbmc. I believe that the code is pretty much fixed and have been looking at getting the skins ready. Hopefully I’ll up out a new release soon.
I had this problem too. I managed to clear this issue by:
1) Change skin back to the default Confluence;
2) DEACTIVATE and REMOVE any version of the Quartz Skin Add-On;
3) Install PleXBMC enhanced Quartz Add-On back;
4) On the XBMC option on the home screen, select Go Plex. :)
