It should work with Kodi 16 too, but you need a skin which supports it.
At the moment, only the Andromeda skin (github version only - krypton) supports it.

You can get the helper back. You have just to remove the “#” symbol from every line in the file “helper.py” in the “plugin.video.plexbmc” folder and then save the file.

You can successfully use both this and the plexforkodi plugin with dsplayer.

Hi .

I have Problems setting up a Friends System.
We both use Raspberry Pis, we both use OSMC with Kryton, we both use Plexbmc 4.1.
I did set up my both Pis the same way:

  • installed OSMC
  • switched to Amber-Skin
  • installed Plexbmc
  • authenticated my account in the Plexbmc settings
  • switched to Plex-Mode
  • Bam! Worked like a charm.

This works even with changing the Skin to the marvelous Andromeda (for the 4.1 and that Skin: Many Thanks to Tgx)

Today I tried the same procedure (which worked so well for me) at my friends house with his Pi and to my big surprise the sections didn’t show up on the Homescreen. The Connection to the Server was there because we could navigate through it with Kodis inner “Filesystem” and could watch stuff. But the Amber-Skin wouldn’t update the way it did for me.
After some research here I found out to ACTIVATE (which is activated by default and so is untouched in my systems) the “Use menu for shared sections”-option in plexbmc-setting so i chose, in my dispair, to deactivate it just to try anything and after that amber did show the Sections and we could access them by that, but the Homeshelf Widget (showing the recently added etc. Items) was not there.

BTW: The PMS is mine and I am sharing some Section/Libraries with my friend with the PMS-Friends-Functionality

Now I am at my wit’s end Has anyone any ideas how to get that to work?

Would like to get this running on an Apple TV1. Reinstalled PlexBMC on an install of Openelec/Frodo.
Install worked but still says cannot reach server. Sees the server but cannot connect. I do not have secure connection on the server. anywhere I should look?

nevermind I fixed it in the server by allowing by adding the iP of the AppleTV to allow without authorization and it connected. YEA

Does anyone know how to get the Plexbmc addon to always direct play?. I have it linked with iVue TV guide and have a feeling it is transcoding the streams

I really hope this addon gets updated together with Amber once Kodi 18 drops. Cant live without them on my SHIELD TV

As great as it is, PlexKodiConnect just isn’t the same

Any chance of anyone picking this back up? I can live without 18 for now
 but i think this saves the settings in a folder that gets cleaned by most auto cleaners in builds i run
 have to resign in everytime i reboot :frowning:

And i know someone will say use this or that
 but the official addons UI is just horrific
 plus if you try to back out to do something else while it’s running it closes. And the other one (which i can’t remember the name of) only connects to one server which makes it pretty useless for me as i use many servers

How is it better when it only allows connecting to 1 server? I have 5 different servers i use
 plexbmc was easily the best plex addon there was.
