PlexConnect 0.7.3 - No Images and won't see Pillow

Here is a log at level high
I have anonymized the IP’s

Many thanks again!

I’ve removed the zip from the previous post. Pls send me the log via PM without anonymized IPs.

I need the actual IPs because plex.tv keeps several IPs for the same plex server, and I need to change PlexConnect to identify correctly which one to use.

In the meantime I’ve upgraded the fw of my ATV3 to the latest level and all seems ok with PlexConnect.

It’s in you PM inbox.

Thanks for looking this up!

Thanks. For the time being pls do not login PlexConnect to plex.tv. You will need to authorize 192.168.1.4 and 192.168.1.99 in PMS as follows:

Did you enable remote access in PMS ?

I’ll let you know when I discover another solution.

That worked!
This work around made it lose On deck items, but I can live with that.
I do have remote access enabled. Should I disable it?

Thanks, let me know how I can help further.

Thanks

Can you pls test with the latest master ?

https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/archive/refs/heads/master.zip

No need to authorize LAN, simply login with your plex.tv id.

Update did not work. Still can’t see thumbnail and movies won’t play.

AppleTV A1427 - Software version: 7.7 (8153)
Python version: 2.7.18
PIL is detected - Fanart shows

Plex server: 1.23.4.4712
Config: Remote access enabled
List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth : NONE in the field
Plex connect Version: 0.7.4-210621
In PlexConnect on AppleTV, I have logged in with my plexpass user.

Thanks

Thanks for testing. Let’s try the following:

  1. Stop PlexConnect
  2. Edit file PlexAPI.py
  3. Locate line 452 whose contents are response = urllib2.urlopen(request, timeout=20)
  4. Change the timeout value from 20 to 120
  5. Start PlexConnect

How large is your library ?

Made the changes, restarted PlexConnect, rebooted AppleTV (for what it’s worth).
Still no luck.

As for how large…
700 movies that I have backed up.
10 000 music tracks

I’m not able to reproduce your problem. The actions I’ve suggested were based on strange things I saw in your log.

Others users (including myself) are Ok with this latest master. Looks like the problem is specific to your setup.

Pls update timeout back to 20, authorize the 2 IP’s, and use PlexConnect without plex.tv login.

I would like to make a remote access test to your server. We have two options here:

  1. As you are a plex pass user, you can install a plex client in your smart phone and try to access your library away from home (if you contracted data from your provider)
  2. You temporarily share one of your libraries with me

All done. see you PM

I still can use my Plexclient on android from outside my network without any issue…
I don’t see the link with PlexConnect, but I trust your trouble shooting capabilities

This is weird.
I have reverted to 20 seconds.
External connection is ENABLED.
I have authorized 192.168.1.4 and 192.168.1.99.
I can connect with my Android client from outside of my network.
But I can’t see my library from PlexConnect AppleTV - Logged off account.
Plex Media Servers found: 1 (from plexconnect log)

Let’s investigate another possibility. Pls open PMS network settings and check if you have multiple network interfaces detected by PMS. Here is my parametrization:
image
My server has two NIC’s (192.168.130.210 and 192.168.130.211) and PlexConnect may pick the wrong one, so I have to use this parameter in PMS.

In case you have several network interfaces listed in above setting pls select one as preferred and restart PMS afterwards.

Hey OP, would this have occurred after the recent PMS update? I seem to have an issue that on my PMS I can open plex and see all thumbnails / art work, but on my Apple TV 3 I can no longer see them, they’re just blank. I don’t know what’s happened other than the update. It was working fine prior.

I only have one interface :frowning:
192.168.1.99

Should I try to revert to an old PMS version?
If so not sure how to do that without messing up the library.

192.168.1.4 was your aTV’s IP. If that changed PlexConnect will not work. Or if you put spaces (instead of a comma) to separate IP addresses in the auth list it will not work either. If PlexConnect was working in this situation it should continue to work.

You can also test with 192.168.1.1/24 in the auth field (however do not use this permanently).

192.168.1.4 is assigned with MAC address with my router.
I will try to investigate why it is not working suddenly.

Hmmm… well my problem may differ to yours, but here’s the link to my problem / fix. Turns out I never had pillow installed, yet previous to the last few days it was showing thumbnails and everything all OK. I upgraded plex connect and python, then installed Pillow as per the apple tv / plex install guide;

My problem (along with links to update everything:

Install guide:

Ok I must have had a certificate issue because everything works now!
Thumbnails are showing and movies playing.
I have reverted to 20 seconds.
External connection is ENABLED .
I have authorized 192.168.1.4 and 192.168.1.99 .
I can connect with my Android client from outside of my network.
I CAN see my library from PlexConnect AppleTV - Logged off from account.
Everything works also if I log in.
