Plexconnect, ATV3, Windowsserver2003,wired buffering issues

  • Your ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version:ATV3, fw 6.1

  • he DNS server set on the ATV :192.168.1.250

  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on:192.168.1.250

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on:pc, windows 2003

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:pc, windows 2003

  • The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (do not put 'latest'):Versie 0.9.9.7

  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:192.168.1.250

  • The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any non-standard setup e.g. Plexify or a fork.

  • The contents of your 'Settings.cfg' file (this is created at first clean shutdown of PlexConnect, using CTR+c)

  • Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file occurs with most files

  • A detailed description of the issue: I have a wired connection to my atv and use netflixperfectly on it. However the hdmovies keep buffering even if i bring transcoding down on atv

  • Ensure you post your 'PlexConnect.log' file to pastebin and post the link ('PlexConnect.log' is located in your PlexConnect folder). If possible, follow these steps to create a "more detailed fresh" one:i have a log, but didnt fit pastebin. can i mail it?

Set an OUTGOING rule for BOTH TCP and UDP for Python.exe

Also do you see the same issue using a different Plex client.

As i undestood Windows server 2003 allows all outbond traffic, therefore no outbound rules can Be defined. On iPad and iPhone no problems

Can you tell me what part of The log you need? Maybe i can get that in pastebin?

I appreciate The help

I think we should first rule out a firewall issue, can you make sure you open 80, 443 and the ones in this thread: https://forums.plex.tv/topic/92737-plexconnect-with-local-firewall-on-os-109/

Also can you post some details of your PMS hardware and did you test using the iOS client as well?

I also got some buffering issues, but PlexConnect and PMS both are working on DS214Play. Do i have to open something on my NAS too? I'm using MP4 and M4V files with and without subtitles. I have DirectPlay enabled by default. I think i will open a new topic for this if nenessary.

A new thread with the info requested in the sticky please as similar symptoms do not mean the same root cause.

Is there a free app I can test with, I dont wanna buy plex if its not working, for my ios systems besides the apple tv i use air video server which works like a charm. I have a AMD athlon 64x2 dual core processor 3800+

You can download the desktop client free and you can also try using plex.tv (sign in and click on lauch to see your media if you are signed into myplex - once you have a play with these you may decide that it is worth going Plex on all devices).
