Buffering issue?

Hi,

Seem to have an issue were playback stops randomly, not sure but it looks like its not buffering well. I think this only because when I play/pause the content the timeline bar seems to have little (or in some cases no) buffered content.

Find this unusual because when I remove the network cable from the Apple TV and plug my laptop in, I get a constant <1 ms response from the Plex server. So I can't imagine this is a network speed problem.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Adam

  • Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file (in order to get the necessary information on a particular media file go into the Plex web interface, select the video file, when it brings up the page for the media file click on the "i" information button on the left hand side, it will then bring up a "media info" box, click on the "View XML" button, it will then open a browser window with the relevant information, copy this to http://www.pastebin.com and use the pastebin link to post the details; posting the information directly in the forum may mess up the formatting and generally takes up a lot of space):

  • detailed description of the issue (the clearer you can make this the better):
    See above post

  • Ensure you post your 'PlexConnect.log' file to pastebin and post the link ('PlexConnect.log' is located in your PlexConnect folder). If possible, follow these steps to create a "more detailed fresh" one:

    • shutdown PlexConnect
    • in 'Settings.cfg', set loglevel to "High"
    • delete the existing log file
    • restart PlexConnect
    • repeat the issue
    • immediately close PlexConnect and post the log.
    • in 'Settings.cfg', set the loglevel back to "Normal"

What are the specs of your PMS?

What are the specs of your PMS?

The Mac Mini is running ESXi 5;

OSX is running as a VM with 2x 2.3GHz processors, 200GB disk using thin provisioning and 8GB RAM dedicated.

As a side note (incase its relevant) I use an LG Smart TV in a different room which streams the content fine using the app at http://plex.h3consulting.net . Also, have used both iOS apps and streams over Safari without any problems.
