I am thinking of adding an option in the settings panel, about the dns intercept, not sure what is the correct word here.

so when it is true, PlexConnect will feed ATV with Plex Media Server contents, if it is false PlexConnect feeds ATV with the original apple trailer contents.

 

Maybe it is not as easy as I thought because need to consider how to make the setting available on ATV when original apple trailer is served, so the user is able to switch back easily without touching the PlexConnect code on the computer.

 

Last but not least, thanks to the devs who started PlexConnect.

If you are talking about in the UI it leads to painting yourself in a corner e.g:

  • you start up the app and watch a show
  • you go to settings and switch to apple trailers
  • you watch a trailer
  • now you want to watch the film on Plex, but how? You just disabled PlexConnect

also: your partner in the other room might want to stay with Plex... Hm.

You can always install the IMDB trailers channel on your PMS, it is one of the channels that is currently working with PlexConnect.

You are right, that the issue that I foresee.

So we need to translate the feed from apple into PlexConnect format, thus maintaining the settings panel.

trailers.apple.com -> PlexConnect -> ATV

Or just have a menu from within Plex Connect to view the Apple Trailers...

That will somehow be allowed access to the correct dns listings.

It has been discussed before but it is way down the list of priorities, if it is even possible, but as I say you can always install the IMDB trailer channel on your PMS.
