PlexConnect lags a lot on aTV3

Hi all,

 

Just got my Apple TV3 last weekend and wanted to check MKV files. Ofcourse I found out this was not a standard option so i needed to do something

 

As transcoding all the files from MKV to mp4 files is not really an option as almost all my files are MKV i found out PMS will do this right away.

 

 

So after an hour of work my PC was setup and i tried it through my iphone; open the file on my iPhone and use airplay. This started laggy but oke, i was convinced this was the problem.

 

So i installed Plexconnect on my PC and the aTV. But now i still have the same problem.

 

Both my PC and the aTV are on a hardwired network through a router.

 

I think my PC if fast enough (AMD X2 64+ 5400) so that should not be the problem.

 

 

Does anyone has a solution for me? :)

 

 

I'm hoping that the jailbreak for aTV3 comes out very soon, as this would simplify all of it a lot!!

It likely isn't, that cpu isn't very fast, so likely it is just taking a while to build up the buffer of transcoded data.

Forgot to mention that; no it doesn't! To be honest; i've even played the last one throught the iphone flawless!

I know the odds are slim with this, but I once had a similar issue.  It turned out that my Ethernet cables were poorly made.  A friend put on the connectors.  Everything on the network worked, but the mistakes he made caused the kind of problems you described. The issue was sporadic, too.    Its hard to de-bug the issue if that's the case, but you can start by replacing the last cable you installed, likely connecting the ATV to the network.

Thanks for your reply! But unfortunately i don't think that's the issue.. :( It would be the first thing for me to do but i know that they are oke since i tested them with a Fluke DTX tester.. I'm kind of a network engineer so i have plenty of access to the testing equipment and i'm installing new fibre/copper lines everyday.. :)

See if you get the same issue with an iTunes compatible file :wink:
