PlexConnect on ATV 7.0 GM (iOS 8.0 GM)

does anyone have an update install guide for windows 7?

does anyone have an update install guide for windows 7?

This guide is still valid:
https://miapple.me/installing-plexconnect-on-windows-7-8-and-8-1-after-apple-tv-update/

Could somebody who is running 7.0 please confirm weather or not PlexConnects on screen clock and end time is working. I've upgraded to 7.0 and none of the text overlays seem to work anymore :(

Fixed.

So to confirm - If I'm hijacking iMovie Theater I will run into problems but WSJ and Trailers work fine?

Trailers work for sure, don’t know about the rest of apps.

What is the advantage of upgrading the ATV 7.0? Does anyone have a list of features that would motivate a person to upgrade and then recommission the ATV3s?

Thanks.

I did not see any and so have reverted to 6.2 last night.

Tnx, that guide was a lot clearer.

Just updated my Apple TV 3 from 6.2 to the now publicly available online 7.0 (6897.5)

and iMovie Theater is now unavailable

Updates PlexConnect to todays master and restarted machine and Apple TV 7.0 but still unavailable

My other Apple TV 3 6.2 on this network is working fine, so it is the update

Any suggestions or feedback?

As already written, iMovie Theatre will not work anymore. For details see: https://miapple.me/plex-plexconnect-openplex-running-apple-tv-7-0-gm-seed/

All alternatives are summarised by wahlman.j in this thread.

So it arrives:

Firmware

At least 5.3 is still open for some aTV's.

There is a list of apps (not all tested) you can hijack here:

I have to figure out how to reconfigure to the WSJ Live button then as I like watching the Trailers

Anyone have any nice links to instructions for iMovie Theatre reconfiguring to WSJ Live?

I'll get searching in the meantime

Edit: I found this topic with what i think I need - https://forums.plex.tv/topic/86012-how-to-use-imovie-theater-instead-of-the-trailers-app/?p=497580

Edit 2: Got Trailers to work, but not WSJ. Will study post #54 by wahlman.j below to setup WSJ, thanks wahlman.j for the response

Edit 3: Success, thanks to the post #54 by wahlman.j below, I have setup WSJ Live to be PlexConnect

Edit 3: The post #53 below by miApple.me has all the info together also, thanks.

I can confirm now that we have a new little PlexConnect bug with the Apple TV 7.0 update and PlexConnect 0.4-dev in my case,

which is that the "Show Clock" and "Show End Time" functions that are just meant to appear on screen with the play bar during pause and briefly at the start of play,

now stays on without dissolving away.

You can either turn them off at Settings > Video Player OSD > Show Clock > False & Show End Time > False,

or if you rewind a few seconds then play, it starts to work and dissolves away.

Maybe this is helpful, too: ;-)
https://miapple.me/plexconnect-windows-hijack-imovie-theatre-wsj-instead-trailers-app/

edit settings.cfg change the hosttointercept from www.icloud.com to secure.marketwatch.com. Generate new certs using secure.marketwatch.com instead of www.icloud.com delete your old certs then copy the new ones to /assets/certificates. restart plexconnect then load your certs via network method like this without the http prefix:

192.168.1.100/trailers.cer

replace the ip with yours

once complete restart your aTV to clear the cache and try WSJ app.

Here is the network cert load method:

Network via PlexConnect (preferred)

Not sure what OS you use but there is cert instructions here depending on your OS:

https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-Guide

Windows Certificate Guide

Mac Certificate Guide <----same for linux

I also have a app for OSX called OpenPlex by CyberGhost84 and myself in my signature that generates them without using terminal.

Did the aTV update and also updated PC from the Master zip. Everything seems fine, except for military time is being displayed at the top of the screen. I never intentionally turned this on, and I can't seem to figure out how to turn it off. Any ideas?

So did i get it right?:

Nothing changed except iMovie can't be hijacked any more?

Howdy. It's been a while.

So it seems iMovie Theatre has been locked up then, shame.

I see there is a list of the apps that *might* work in Webserver.py.

Questions:

1. when I generate the cert I presume I can simply use the domain mentioned in the web server.py, for example, for Using willow I would put  atvapp.willow.tv as the CN value, correct?

2. Does the network (preferred) method of installing the cert file accept just cert files, or am I correct in saying it'll handle a mobileconfig file, which could contain all of the certifies for all the apps one would want to test?

3. Can I have multiple .cer / .pem files in the appropriate PlexConnect directory?

So the most obvious question to most is: When upgrading to the latest public release of iOS8 (iOS7 for Apple TV3), will the normal Trailers app still work with PlexConnect (i.e. to access our Plex Media Servers)?

I've just updated and PlexConnect is working with trailers. I prefer this new interface.

Depending on your OS you can use the "one line" curl command at the beginning of this link to locate apps to hijack based on your geographic location by viewing the storeFront file that loads all the apps on the aTV during boot:

https://intrepidusgroup.com/insight/2014/02/atv-cert-pinning/

OpenPlex for OSX has this option in the advanced tab to view this file also in plain form, thanks goto @Dschuetz. Its a long file but there are plenty of URL's to hijack  :D

1. Once you generate a cert you want to keep it named trailers.cer so plexconnect can serve it.
2. The network method accepts .cer only unless you have a separate webserver to load the .pem. The .pem really belongs on the plexconnect side and the .cer belongs on the atv.
3. Yes but I would recommend keeping them in separate directories for example certificates/WSJ, certificates/Trailers etc. In those I would keep the certs named trailers.cer, trailers.pem and trailers.key. When you need them just put them in the normal certificate dir so plexconnect can serve them via network method then change your hosttointercept (in settings.cfg), restart plexconnect to load the new intercept, reboot your aTV (to clear cache), then try the new hijack to ensure success.
