I have a Synology DS409 running the PMS with this new 0.15 release.
I have set the DNS on aTV to the IP of Synology and set the PlexConnect to 8.8.8.8
I installed git and the python (from community) as needed.
PMS is the latest version direct from PLEX: 0.9.8.4.125

But none of the movies or TV shows play. Sometimes I can navigate the hierarchy to select a show and then I just get "cannot connect" errors.
However, sometimes I get "connect connect to plex media server" on all feeds.
What am I doing wrong?

I now seem to have it working. Sometimes no channels appear and sometimes, I see TV shows and movies and can navigate the hierarchy. Some movies DO play, but some do not and no TV shows seem to work, which seems to indicate its a format issue. I'm not sure what I can do there, beyond converting the files. The settings have transcoder on/off, but it doesn't seem to do much...

Current version for some reasons stops working if it has been idle the whole day. When I click on trailers app, it will browse the movie sections fine, but I cannot play anything nor does the album artwork load. I have to shut donw plexconnect, and then restart it. After that the trailers app is able to view artwork and play movies fine.
Second question: Sometimes the subtitles will NOT play in Apple TV despite having the name that matches the file name of the movie and in SRT format. I have also made sure that the subtitle is selected before I start to play the movie on apple tv. Despite this they will NOT play. Any ideas why?

If you can access plexconnect then there is no difference in the versions. They are all based on the 0.1 codebase of plexconnect. The only difference in all the versions is how the virtual hosting is done to let atv connect to plexconnect on synology. If you can navigate to something but it does not play then that will not be fixed by the older installer.
Best is to use the latest installer because the other instaaler could break some of your nas functionality.

I have found that if my plexconnect stops routing/serving if not used for an extended period of time, say one day. When I go to apple TV > Trailers app > I am able to browse my collection, but NOT play anything. Whenever I try to play anything is throws the error "Trailers not available" or something like that. Now the solution I have found is that I have to turn off the plexconnect app from teh Package Center of Synology and then turn it back on. Then everything plays fine, until the next time, I don't use it for an extended period of time.
Can anyone give me a script that I can use Synology Scheduler to turn off the PlexConnect service off and then on everyday.

This is not installed as a package or an option in the control panel in DSM. You will need to open an SSH session and check to see if it is running as a process. Not sure what invoked it in the first instance; but a check of what ports were in use on my system showed that DNSmasq was the culprit. I simply killed the task and problem fixed. I am not running my own Synology DNS server.
I just got my DS1513+ for plexconnect and my AT3.
Do I still need to follow the advanced instructions if I'm using synology DDNS with the latest package on the first post?

Synology ds1513, plexconnect, and AT3 is what was needed for a media server.

I'm running PMS for Synology PPC beta, I'm on a DS413. It works great so far. But as it is a very early release, I'm wondering if anyone else has done this. I'm not all that comfortable doing all the SSH. If anyone else has tried this w/ the PPC Beta, I'd love to hear about your experience.
DSM 4.3 has been released today... I'd like to upgrade, but not without knowing that plexconnect is working on 4.3. Can anybody confirm that everything is running with the new version of DSM? Thanks a bunch for any replies :-)

it works with 4.3 but you need to re-install it.

Not entirely - see post here. I have yet to try this out on my Syno box, but don't see why it shouldn't work too. Luckily I have a Mac to run the 'configurator' on. Only thing I'm not sure of is how to pull a different branch of PlexConnect using GIT. Any tips/thoughts on how to pull the 'reaperhulk' branch?
Has anyone tried this on Synology DSM 4.3-3776 ?
Created the certs & profile, transferred certs to NAS, copied down updated fork, updated Settings.cfg with SSL and Cert path lines - but, when i launch plexconnect it fails to connect to port 81 and shuts down - any ideas ?
( Same port config as before, no change there - even switched back to original plexconnect config and starts up fine ).
Thanks for everyones hard work, I only started using plexconnect the other day and it was fantastic, trust F**king Apple to ruin everyones entertainment !
