Local IP address of plexconnect device- 192.168.1.2? (not too sure about how to get this)
Device and operating system: Sony Vaio laptop with windows 7.
device and operating system of plex media server: sony vaio, windows 7,
PMS version number:0.9.9.14.531-7eef8c6
Local ip address of the device of PMS: 192.168.1.2 (same as pc where plexconnect is)
plexconnect ver number : folder creation date of august 28th 2014
Detailed description of the issue: I used the procedure outlined in the wiki to download and install python 2.7.X, and installed the latest plexconnect and ran it. I also created certificate files and put it into the plexconnect directory placed at the program files location. I ran the plex connect system. I also used the wifi method to install the certificates on the apple tv. However, when I connect, the system hangs at the webserver portion, intead of trying to talk to the PMS. I tried running the plexconnect file using the python run module option, which got me the IP self, which I then went ahead and changed the address at the APTV to. It just says that trailers is unavailable, however.
Its my first time getting an aptv, and am new to this, so please be patient with me and let me know if I am missing some crucial information on my post.
It doesn't hang... it's waiting for your aTV to do a request.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, when I try to run the trailers app at this point, the actual trailers app show up, and I don't see any changes in the log file. I ended up restarting the atv, but same thing happens.
Advice? Read the WIKI. Then - change your DNS setting on aTV.
Believe it or not, I did read the WIKI, tried the steps. My suspicion is that I overlooked a step somewhere. I actually did change the DNS settings to the aTV, and changed it to the "ip self" address before, but it seems on restart of atv, DNS setting gets reset? (I am not sure).
But thanks for reminding me. I reset the DNS to manual and set the local self ip.
Now executing the trailers app shows "trailers is unavailable. Please try again later".
Looking at the status log shows a bunch of requests from the DNSServer pertaining to request received and dns response from higher level.
i can reattach the log file (but don't know how to attach it when I am replying to a topic).
