Sorry for another thread like this but I just can't get this to work. I have PlexConnect set up on my Windows PC.
Your ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version (found under the ATV settings > general > about > Apple TV software): 3 and 6.2
The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS): 192.168.0.13
The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on: Windows 8.1
The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on:192.168.0.13
The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: Windows 8.1
The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (**do not put 'latest'**):Version 0.9.9.14.531-7eef8c6
My settings are:
[PlexConnect]
enable_plexgdm = True
ip_pms = 192.168.178.10
port_pms = 32400
enable_dnsserver = True
port_dnsserver = 53
ip_dnsmaster = 208.122.23.23
prevent_atv_update = True
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True
ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0
hosttointercept = trailers.apple.com
port_webserver = 80
enable_webserver_ssl = True
port_ssl = 443
certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pem
loglevel = High
logpath = .
I have attached my log file. I changed the dns to match the unblock-us dns. I have installed the certificate successfully on the aTV yet it is stuck on "Accessing Trailers".
After the webserver bit it used to say found gdm, serving library etc. but now it just stays at webserver: serving https.
Have you allowed python to communication on ports 53, 80, 443 within the windows 8 firewall? (even if its disabled it has been seen that the windows firewall sometimes blocks traffic)
What method did you use to add the certificate? Can you try removing the certificate from the ATV and add it again (maybe via the other method) to make sure the certificate was not corrupted in the loading process.
You said you don't see the GDM messages, but these were moved to only happening once a request is received from the ATV when shared libraries were added, and as no request has actually been received from the ATV (in the logs) the GDM part has not been triggered.
I have found that after long streaming sessions ( > 45 minutes), the connection to the PlexConnect gets lost. The server generates an error: “Unidentified ATV” or “Unable to load this content”. I have found that exiting the service and accessing the service again, re-establish the connection.
Hold the “Menu” button on your ATV remote until the main ATV menu is displayed.
Access your intercepted icon of choice (we use “Trailers”).
Navigate to the channel of your choice.
All services should be back to normal.
We have also found that if you attempt to navigate back to the spot where the service was interrupted, PlexConnect will remember the menu items and the time when the program was interrupted. If it doesn’t, choose the same source from where you were streaming (PC will remember and take you there), hit play, and once the stream starts, FF to +- the spot in which the streaming was interrupted. PlexConnect will pick it up from there, and take you to the end.
May sound troublesome and convoluted, but please remember, like all other machines, it is not perfect, the team has done an exceptional job in leaps and bounds to deliver a universal spectacular quality product at no or very small cost for our enjoyment. Thank you for and keep providing your feedback. I’m sure the team will pull an Ace from under their sleeve soon. They always do!
