PlexConnect slowed down after commit 196f442

I downloaded the latest code from Github this morning and my first impression is that it is much slower at loading the screens. The version i was running prior was from 5 days ago. I reverted back to Roidy's commit 196f442 and it is back to the quick and speedy PlexConnect that i remembered. Something after that commit has really slowed things down. I'll try to roll back to each commit since Roidy's and see if i can nail down which one is the culprit.

Ok i rolled back one by one until i found where it slowed down. Commit 7630b33 on October 14th by iBaa. The title of the commit is "add AuthToken to XML + video request".

Can any of the developers weigh in on what this is and what it's needed for. Any way to speed it up?

To give an idea of how much it's slowed down, on the code prior to iBaa's commit, when clicking on my movies section, On Deck would load in about 2 seconds (and i wouldn't see "Accessing Trailers"). After the commit, it says "Accessing Trailers" for 9 to 10 seconds and then On Deck loads.

That is slow. But not a universal experience. Plexconnect works as normal for me. What is your setup again?

PMS 0.9.8.7 running on a quad core 4.5Ghz with 32GB RAM. Connected via gigabit ethernet to Airport Extreme. AppleTV is connected via ethernet. Media is stored on a Drobo 5D via Thunderbolt.

Everything was perfectly fine until i use the code that contains the commit i mentioned above. What version of the PlexConnect code are you running?

I’m on the Oct 15th commit including Roidy’s movie database fix. I’m on a straightforward iMac to ATV setup though. PMS 9.8.6.

I wish I could update the title because it’s not roidy’s that is causing this slowness for me. It’s the one from iBaa on the 14th.

Ok i completely deleted PlexConnect, downloaded the latest code and started it up. At first it said Plex Media Server not found. I went to settings and under PMS it said pms_uuid. I clicked on it and then it changed to my PMS server. Now in my movies section it is loading quickly again.

i have had very big problem to after update plexconnect.

I get extreamly slow.

This is how i fix it:

Under settings in PlexConnect on ATV, there is an option "Sign out from MyPlex" or somthing like that, so i press there, and after that it´s work greate, it´s working after i login again to.

Logging out of MyPlex and logging back in did the trick for me too and now fast again.

I noticed the MyPlex login before was only an "*" (without the quotes) and now it has my username.

All great again after doing that.

It’s slow for me as well, particularly when selecting “All Movies” in List view; it takes almost a minute to display my 500+ movies. Strangely, grid view is much faster (you just have to wait for the cover art to appear). But List View is brutally slow on my ATV2 (connected via Ethernet).

I've also found that turning Log Level to Off in the settings config file increases loading speed as well.

Try turning "List View Metadata" to Hide in the settings screen of PlexConnect.

Thanks. Turning 'List View Metadata' to Hide does greatly improve the loading times, but unfortunately, hiding metadata kills the usefulness of list view. At least for me.

Anyone know why List View with metadata on is so slow? Is it a limitation of the Apple TV or of PlexConnect?
