PlexConnect to atv3 via ethernet...

Hi,

I have PlexConnect working over wi-fi from my iMac to atv3, however, for some reason loading movies is a nightmare, constantly stopping to buffer. I presume as my iMac is connected to my router over wi-fi and the atv the same, it has to do the rounds before displaying on the TV.

In the hope of a quick fix I've bought an ethernet cable to plug the atv directly into my iMac, thinking data sent straight to atv3 via ethernet from iMac would stream perfectly - is this the case and could someone help me with the setup please?

Thanks in advance.

I would hard wire the mac and the atv to the router directly using ethernet if possible.

It's not ideal for my setup but could be done, would it just be a case of plugging everything into the router? Do you know what settings I would have to tinker with at all?

If you have everything working prior, it should be very easy once you switch to all wired. If the wiring is an issue you can always get a powerline over ethernet adapter or just run a ethernet. Having everything directly wired to the router should speed up your streaming immensely. You may be able to get away with just the mac on ethernet, do some testing and see if it solves your streaming issues, the most ideal solution is ethernet to both.

Thanks for your advice! I will try a hard wired solution and post back if I have any issues...
