Streaming TV channels to ATV3 buffering

Plex has been a great addition in our household since installing a few weeks ago.

I got all my movies stored on my hard drive streaming beautifully to my ATV3, however when it comes to   streaming tv channels, I get continuous buffering through ATV3. However I have no problem watching the same programs on PLEX client installed on my mac(no buffering at all).

I have tried playing about with the player quality settings with little success.

As mentioned, I am very new to PLEX, so just wondered if there is a simple solution staring me in the face, that I am missing.

I have Mac OSX PLEX server, with WD4TB connected to router, which is also connected to ATV3 via ethernet.

How is your ATV connected to the internet? If its wireless and your computer is hardwired to the router that would cause a difference in reception. With Plexconnect, if you are using the default DNSmaster (8.8.8.8, see setting.cfg file in Plexconnect folder) you might try changing it to the DNS of your router and see if that helps at all.

My ATV is hard wired to the router, and my mac is connected via WIFI, which is the strange thing, I would have expected buffering to be a problem on the mac if anything.

Can you elaborate on the DNSmaster? I’m a real amateur at this…

Thanks Institute for your advice.

After I finally worked out how to edit the DNSmaster, so it was the same DNS as the router. Working perfectly with no buffering.

Job Done…

Good, seems that Google DNS does not work well for everyone. And glad you figured out the how to.
