Plexconnect with an apple tv on a different network?

I've been running my PMS for several years successfully, when I make the changes for PlexConnect I get a specific error.

19:44:54 DNSServer: started: 19:44:54

19:44:54 DNSServer: Failed to create socket on UDP port 53: [Errno 48] Address already in use
19:44:54 PlexConnect: DNSServer not alive. Shutting down.
19:44:54 PlexConnect: Shutting down.
19:44:54 PlexConnect: shutdown

I'm not mapping port 53 to anything and I tried disabling the DNSServer to no avail.

A little help would be greatly appreciated.

Quick question. What port do I need to open on my router incoming to let the connection from the WAN PlexConnect get back in?

I would think it would be 53 DNS, 80 Http, 443 https

Actually, I found out the answer. I thought i had deleted the post.

The only thing I had to open incoming was 32400. Everything else is handled by the PlexConnect.

Works great. 32400 was already open so I could get in via the web browser outside of the network.

Josh

most ISP's will not allow incoming DNS requests, I have posted another alternative that does work, you just host a version of plexconnect from the remote site and point it to your ports for plex along with adding in the remote IP so that it doesnt require authentication.  I will see if I can find it.

This is pretty much what I did.

I set up a PlexConnect at home and a PlexConnect at my moms house. I set the PC at my moms to point the the PMS at my house.

Seemed to work great. Surprisingly fast as well.

Sorry Josh, I had thought you did not want to have plexconnect running at her place, so I gave the ports I though an ATV needs to connect to a remote plex connect.  But happy its working for you.

I didn't. .  It was just easier to set it up. I set it up to run on her Mac in the background on startup. She'll never even know it's there and therefore can't delete it..

I appreciate the help.
