PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

Okay, I have tried to deactivate SSL verification but still no luck so far. Playing without SSL connection works. I will send you a log file as fast as I can get back to my computer.
Thanks for reviewing

Hi Croneter,

managed to get it to work once with version 1.7.7. Trying to repeat it again with that same version I was getting issues (after doing a full reset).

One item that I did find in the log was this:

11:24:28.021 T:16892 NOTICE: PLEX.PlexAPI -> Found a PMS at https://xxxxxxx:32400, but the expected machineIdentifier of ABC did not match the one we found: CDE

note that the xxx, abc and CDE are the replacement values i stuck in here to hide my perso stuff.

Hi, I have another question.
Is it possible to split animes content from tv series ? I have created on plex a library named “MANGAS” (animes)
but on kodi, this category is merged with the tv series. I know that on kodi we could use the “smart playlist” to split different categories but on PlexKodiConnect, I don’t know if there is a way to manage different category ? thanks for your help. regards.

thanks it works ! but a little more problem: on the general menu when I highlight tv series, the widgets “tv series in progress” show me some animes (in progress). is it because I use the scrapperTVDB for animes in Plex ? thanks

Still loving PKC… just have a photos question… any help is appreciated! If I need to provide a log, I can certainly do that next time I’m in front of the HTPC.

PKC can reach the PMS family photo library, but in my experience so far, use/stability seems sporadic… sometimes the skin’s thumbnail photo previews are “greened out”/look corrupted -but the actual photo is fine, and will load okay. Load times on photos are really long too -30-45 seconds, and these are regular ol’ camera and phone photos -so only a few megs in size, tops. If I can’t figure this out in PKC, is it okay to add the smb photo share to Kodi in the old-fashioned way, i.e. through Kodi’s settings, and not via PKC? Then just point the skin’s photo shortcut to that SMB library? Or will that mess things up? Everything else (shows, movies, music -thanks Croneter!) is working great and I don’t want to mess anything up… ha!

So, thanks again, Croneter… really love this addon. Got it mainly to simplify art asset tweaking, avoid Kodi library updates, and to sync up watched/unwatched status, and that’s all been just perfect.

That’s how Kodi works, unfortunately. Nothing PKC can do solve this

Any word on if the requests module update has broken the SSL cert checking?

Hey there. Is there a way to use upnp paths to play the files instead of smb? I ask because some 4k HDR files stutter while playing from smb but play fine using upnp paths with Kodi.

Also does NFS work using path replacement? Do you guys know of any good free NFS servers for windows?

Every network protocol Kodi understand, PKC also understands. Simply plug in upnp://<path> in the PKC path substitution settings. Same goes for nfs://

Simply plug in upnp://<path> in the PKC path substitution settings.

Will this really work? Are upnp paths static and preserve folder structure?
If yes do you know of any way that I can find out the upnp paths of my folders?

For nfs I’ll give it a try when I figure out a way to enable nfs sharing here free

Well this doesn’t work as I tried it. The upnp folder path to my movie library/By Folder is upnp://7bea2b7a-e929-4507-97ee-5a8ca8c38b76/642bdf13dab79fc6451c/

When sync happens plexkodiconnect will just append the movie folder name after that path and it doesn’t work like that. PKC needs to find each movie file upnp path and append that there instead of appending the whole name.

I don’t know more about UPNP, sorry. You might want to check http://kodi.wiki/view/UPnP though

Ah, I see. Unfortunately, PKC won’t work with UPNP paths then. Thought these UPNP paths were similar to smb ones, like upnp://SERVER/path/to/file.mkv, and not just cryptic

Yeah it’s not an easy solution and needs code changes in order to implement upnp paths in PKC. But it would be cool if PKC would use upnp to play the files instead of using smb and path replacement and all those advanced configurations. Using upnp to play files should need no user entry at all I imagine if plex can provide the upnp paths for each one.

Normally upnp in Plex is a bad option as it cannot handle any of the privacy options you can set in Plex (it will simply offer all your media, no matter what kind of restrictions you set. Not a good plan if you have parental controls enabled for example. Don’t want kids to discover the 18+ content  )
Your use case is a valid one, so if this ever gets implemented in PKC it should be an option.

As stated in the official Plex documentation:
“Warning!: Enabling the DLNA server means that any DLNA device or app will have full, unrestricted access to your content.”

You can use upnp just for playback and not for synchronizing the libraries.

In Plex i have a Sort Title included with all my movies. Unfortunately i haven’t been able to use the Sort Title as sort method in Kodi. I am using PKC of course
Anyone any idea how to get this to work?

@ Croneter

an update on my LibreElec 8.2.0 and PKC not working.

In short PKC is working again! I did a clean reinstall of LibreElec, updating was not working.
Plex Server was running on an old mac Mini (late 2009) Mavericks. I upgraded to High Sierra using this patcher which is working very well. http://dosdude1.com/highsierra/
Not sure what was causing my connection problems but at this point I don’t care, its working now.

Hope this is helpful to someone else.

On a side note: In the process of trying to get Plex/PKC working again I gave Emby a try.
All though Emby has a few nice features I found it to run unbearably slow. Not sure what the cause was but Plex/PKC is soooo much faster.

Thank you for all your work and support
