PlexMediaServer has been automatically disabled by QTS to free up system memory

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5409
Player Version#: 4.69.1

@ChuckPa

I first created a post for this in October but we thought it was Plex not handling cleanly some video type/files. I uploaded a file for you and you said it was not formatted correctly.

Plex still crashes every 3 days - content is added daily so I cant see that it’s any specific new files - the only scheduled event I can see that happens every 3 days is backup - I disabled this and it still crashes. It seems to get itself into a situation where it is consuming memory on the QNAP (I have 32GB of memory) then the QNAP shuts plex down with the following error: Warning 2022-01-19 03:30:23 System 127.0.0.1 — — [System Message] PlexMediaServer has been automatically disabled by QTS to free up system memory…

Please see logs - any help is appreciated.

Thanks to @sa2000 in Synology thread - [Plex Crashes Every 3 Days at 3:30am Due to System "Out of Memory" Since PMS 1.24.4.5081 - #124 by ElusiveZatchmo]
Didn’t fancy waiting 10 weeks + so manually ran Database Optimisation until 7GB reduced to 570MB - no issues so far.

How many times did you have to optimize the database manually? I’m asking to get an idea/sense of how long it will take me. My database has been around 2GB and I’ve optimized it manually like 20 times so far and haven’t seen much change to the size and I’ve still been crashing during scheduled tasks every day

About 35-40 times - it gets quicker as the database reduces in size. My NAS has 32GB RAM and Quad Core i7 so was pretty quick. On a remote NAS, I did for a friend with 8GB and Celeron it was taking 4-8 times longer than mine but I just had it as a background task and each time it was completed started again. It will be worth it. The best part of a day but worth it for no crashes (so far).

Thanks, I’ll keep plugging away at it then and see if it fixes my situation. I’m hoping that maybe I can find a script or something that can run this as a scheduled task through the command line or something just so I don’t have to keep poking at it manually.

So, I’ve been optimizing all day in the background, and the size of my database hasn’t changed and I’m still crashing during scheduled tasks :confused:
