Plexmediaserver regularly crashing on ubuntu

Server Version#:1.43.1.10611
Player Version#:

Running on a Ubuntu 24.04

Every other day (2-5 days or so) it seems Plex is crashing and streaming is not possible for a minute or so. While not the end of the world i do got some fair amount of people watching and a few already complained when the connection broke up while they were watching something and it also happened to me quite a few times.

Today the outage was a bit longer (1-2minutes, usually it’s around 30seconds or so). So I finally decided to look a bit deeper into it but i can’t really find a reason. The serverlog just ends without much information and and i cannot open the .dmp file.

Before today i only checked the web interface and all i could see that in the Dashboard the Bandwidth section shows no network traffic whatsoever even tough router and everything works just fine.

Does anyone have an idea how i can further debug this issue?

Is Plex Media Server crashing, meaning no longer running, or just non-responsive?

If it is crashing, then how are you restarting it so quickly?

Do you have any applications (Kometa, etc.) accessing the Plex database?

A set of debug level server log files that capture the problem will be needed to investigate what is happening.

Ensure Plex is configured for debug (default), not verbose, server logs.
Settings → server_name → General + Show Advanced.

If Plex is non-responsive, wait for it to respond, then pull the log files (settings → troubleshooting) and post the zip file to the thread.

If Plex crashes, then restart Plex, wait 2 minutes to log the startup sequence, then pull & post the server log files.
