Ctrl+F5, then test again.
That fixed it!!! What exactly did that accomplish?!?!
I’ve been using PlexPy for a long while now, and love it! I finally got around to setting up the notifications today, got it working finally! I needed to allow less secure app option in my mail settings. But then I turned Plex off, and waited to see how long it would take for my email notification to arrive. I didn’t get an email from PlexPy for 10 minutes after I had turned off the server. Is there a place to change the delay to something more like 2 minutes or less, instead of 10? Or is that just how long it takes, and that’s the end of it?
Thanks again for this, it’s wonderful!
please help.
I receive email notifications for recently added movies and tv shows but do not receive email notifications for when the plex remote access is down/back up.
I forecfully shutdown my Plex Media Server application while PlexPy was still running, waited for 5-10min, and turned it back on. I made sure the checkbox in the settings menu was checked for Remote access down/Remote access up, but i see no attempt to send an email in my log file.

@Rizzz85 The issue is probably that you have PlexPy setup on the same
machine that you have Plex setup on.
Think of it this way: If you have Plex Media Server + PlexPy installed on
your “media server” and your internet goes down, your PlexPy installation
doesn’t have any internet available to be able to send the “Plex Remote
Access is down/up” Message. Same thing with a power outage. If the machine
that it’s installed on loses internet/power, it simply can’t send the
message. I struggled with that for a bit myself and then I suddenly
figured it out. Most people put PlexPy on a separate machine and have that
machine (with PlexPy installed on it) reference their MediaServer/Plex
installation for all the data.
This way, if the media server/Plex goes down, the other machine can have
the ability to send messages regarding that activity.
Tbh, I’ve not done that myself because I’m not necessarily concerned with
the status of the server. I simply have Plex + PlexPy installed on 1
MediaServer and that server is connected to a MASSIVE UPS/Battery Backup
(Enterprise Level) alongside all my other networking gear.

So to be clear, what I’m suggesting is that when your Plex loses remote
access, it’s more than likely because of an Internet Outage or Power Outage.
So if you haven’t already, I’d try the following test:
Ensure that PlexPy is up and running, then completely close Plex and
shutdown all of it’s services. PlexPy should notice that and then send out
Remote Access outage emails.
If you’ve already tried this, please accept my apologies. Just trying to
help
Thank you for your response Joshua, but I don’t believe we’re on the same page here.
I have my PlexPy and PMS server on the same machine, but when i mentioned that I turned off the server, I was referring to just the PMS software application and not the physical machine. Therefore, internet access was still on, PlexPy still running, etc…
I completely understand your scenario, but, if the machine is still on and has internet, I don’t see why PlexPy cannot send an email for remote access unavailability.
However, I do like your UPS backup idea considering I live in FL (Hurricane weather). If you don’t mind me asking, which one did you end up buying to support your setup. I’m in the market to support a 750W power supply but on an OC I7-5960x CPU
