PlexServer on i5-9500T cannot use QuickSync to transcode VC-1 Advanced Layer 3

Server Version 1.41.0.8994

All files coded with VC-1 Advanced Layer 3 cannot be played (using hardware transcoding). If is simple VC-1 is ok.
If I use software transcoding it works but with 100% CPU load.

  1. Is there an option to use software transcoding like Media Plyer Classic and not load CPU to max?
  2. Is this a Quick Sync Video limitation?
  3. Is there a workaround?

Only if you move the transcoding process before the playback – i.e. convert into a version with a different video codec.

In general, I can only recommend you to avoid VC-1 in general.
Newest generations of QuickSync don’t have support for regular VC-1 anymore, this should give you a hint about its popularity.

Thank you for reply! I want to avoid them but old blu-ray discs are coded with VC-1 and this is how these movies are copied to hdd (coded with VC-1). I do not want to re-encode them as I will be loosing a lot of time doing that. I will solve the problem taking in consideration your reply. Have a nice day. This can be closed.
