PlexSync error: no UUID available for this library section

Hi developers,

I have developed a plug-in that allows a Plex user to browse and watch MythTV recordings (see https://forums.plex.tv/topic/86644-mythtv-plug-in/). This works fine.

Then about 4 months ago, I added PlexSync support to the plug-in - i.e. now you could sync a recording to your iPad and watch it offline. This, I believe, also worked fine for a while.

Now, however, I cannot sync anymore - when i try I get the error message "Unable to sync - There is no UUID available for this library section". I can however watch the recordings, so it's something specific to syncing...

What does this mean? What am I doing wrong?

My code is available at https://github.com/tschaumburg/MythRecordings.bundle/blob/master/Contents/Code/__init__.py

/thanks

PS: My apologies for not providing more info - I tried getting some data using http://127.0.0.1:32400/library, but that didn't show channels (plug-ins)

PPS: The client is an up-to-date Plex for PlexPass (version 3.4.0, revision 1879873) on an iPad Air, and my PMS is updated to 0.9.9.7 on Ubuntu (uname -a => Linux mythbackend 3.8.0-37-generic #53~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Feb 19 21:37:54 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

Update:

I managed to get the right URL (http://127.0.0.1:32400/channels/all). Below I've included the entire tree (irrelevant bits replaced with "..."), down to the recording I try to sync.

I can see that there are no UUIDs there - but I can't see where they should be, or how to add them;

   ...

http://127.0.0.1:32400/video/mythrecordings:

   ...

http://127.0.0.1:32400/video/mythrecordings/GroupRecordingsBy?keyName=Title:

   ...

...and if I open the indicated URL (http://192.168.2.10:6544/Content/GetRecording?ChanId=3400&StartTime=2014-02-15T21:28:00Z) I get a nicely playable .mpg file

Interesting... Are you having issues syncing normal library content?

@mikedm139

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, I can sync normal contents.

Yesterday, I tested this on my Android phone - and the sync was started perfectly there (same server, same item sync'ed).

So maybe this is specific to the iOS client.

Should I take the issue elsewhere on the forums, then?

/thanks

Just to add to this, I'm a user of @schaumburg's plugin (which is great!) and am having the same problem.  Mac Plex Server 0.9.9.7 and I've just updated to the newest iOS Plex client (3.4.1) and the UUID problem occurs when trying to sync from Channels.

Couple of things to add:

- I think this affects more than just @schaumburg's plugin.  I get the same "Unable to sync - There is no UUID available for this library section" message if I try and sync from the Apple Movie Trailers channel for instance.  I haven't tried any other channels at this point.

- I can sync successfully from my main Library.  Movies and TV Shows sync fine - it's only channels where there seems to be a problem.

Seems like a bug may have snuck in to the sync code for channels. I’ll pass word to the relevant developers. Hopefully it’s a quick fix.

Thanks - looking forward to it!

While we’re at it (…), there seems to be another (different) channel sync issue with the Android client:

As noted above, syncing starts fine, and the sync status reports as “synchronized, 3.3GB”. And when I go offline, the synchronized item appears under the channel as expected.

BUT - when I try to play back the synced item, I get the error “an error occured while attempting to navigate to the selected item. It appears that the associated server is no longer accessible”.

Sorry about being such a nuisance - I do appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this great feature!

:slight_smile:

Hi. I know the last post was over a year ago, but has there been any update/ resolution ? I have the same issue and situation on my Nexus 5 mentioned in schaumberg's last post #6 above.
