PlexWatch and PlexWatchWeb installation and configuration procedure for dummies (Windows)

So it looks like you get a "Watched" notification when the user closes the stream, even if they have not watched 100% of the media. Is there a way to only get a "Watched" notification when they have completed 100% of the stream?

I may be wrong abut this... But this is just how it seems.

Also, if there is a specific reason it works this way I would like to know. I can live with it if I understand the logic behind the purpose.

I thought as much, any ideas on further settings to test that could impact load times?

Just doing some further checks on Google around Apache running slow on local machine, a few results point to host file and httpd.conf setting (listen reference).

I have made sure my host file has 127.0.0.1 localhost & 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1.

Would appreciate it if someone who is running with good refresh rates could confirm what their host file looks like and what you have set in the listen setting (I currently just have the port number with no preceding I.P).

Thanks in advance

Tylor

You could try running the dev version of PWW, my understanding is that it does some server-side work rather than sending the majority of the data to the client for processing. I have both available at different addresses, no problem running both simultaneously, but the history page for the dev version completes loading much quicker on my phone / from a remote location.

Beyond that, you might try setting up another website for some other service and seeing if performance is iffy with that one too.

hi thanks, I now get a new error, it now says error in date/time format, please correct this and try again.

I guess its progress as its a new error, cant see what's wrong with it though, as its the same setting as previous.

They changed the letter in date time format in dev...

Just correct them and you should be OK

Any further ideas on my localhost lag guys, surely I can't  be the only person suffering with this on Windows 8.1 (64). I have tried changing a lot of parameters but no joy, strangely it only seems to lag upon clicking either the user hyperlink or the home hyperlink - browing between history and charts etc is fast!

Very confused :-(

Tried getting this to work a year or two ago and gave up in frustration, these instructions are great, cheers!

Thank you! This guide was amazing. I did it all in 20 minutes. Without your guide I couldn't get the first step done before.

Question since yesterday...
I reboot and it breaks. I assume I need XAMPP to start on start up and automatically start Apache and MySQL.

Question about resources:
I was told this uses less resources than PlexNotify. RAM usage is pretty high because of "mysqld" in task manager. Is this to be expected? Constantly using ~450mb

Edit: It is now idling at 20mb. I can live with that

For the RAM, yes normal. (same here; 433)

But the fact is that it feels MUCH lighter and more stable to use compared to PN, by far. (can't remember memory usage with it though)

Once I set it up, rock solid everytime I need it (so far, I guess)

Thanks sfnetwork!

I just shared this wonderful guide on reddit. Not sure if you are a member there but I'll delete my post so you can post it yourself if you would like.

Can anyone help me out with something? I have everything set up except for the remote access and password protecting the folder.

I am not a very technical person, but I followed the instructions and it doesn't seem to work. When I try to access from outside my network, I get the message "New XAMPP security concept: Access to the requested object is only available from the local network. This setting can be configured in the file "httpd-xampp.conf"

Ok I got it working. Now I was trying to setup the "password protection" because right now anyone outside my network can navigate to my plex watch web.
Any advice on how to secure things?

I'm a total PHP noob, but does anyone know if its possible to addd password protection to the settings page in plexwatchweb?

And is there a way to add a banner to the homepage?

I'd like to use the plexwatchweb page for my friends so they can see changes in the library ad keep an eye on eachother :). Also I'd like to post service announcements on my plex server here.

TIA!

Hi guys,

I know I keep coming back to this but I still can't figure out why I have such a lag on navigating to and from the home webpage, just timed this on iphone and it was 18 second delay from user page to homepage! I have tried pausing my antivirus/firewall protection (temporarily during tests) what was strange is when I did this my NO-IP redirect failed to connect even though I could still access standard web pages!

Very confused :-(

* edit.. after changing numerous settings (good reference found here - https://ineed.coffee/1441/apache-php-mysql-slow-under-windows-8-how-to-fix/)

I think the underlying issue was IPV6, disabling this via the registry hack and reboot solved the problem in Windows 8.1 it's now lightning fast

Hopefully can help others

:D

Hi, Can someone help with Pushover... I have the user token, but what is the App Token and how do I get it?

Thanks

Got to https://pushover.net/and log in. Towards the bottom there something that says

Your Applications  (Register an Application)

Click the link and give it a name; use the drop down that says website. You can add more details or mess around with it further but really all you need to do now is click the "create application" button. It will then tell you your API.

Did you do the last part of my procedure? (just in case since it's exactly the same error...)

Hi,  if you mean by entering the username and password, then yes, what has changed though is that I now get the ssl certificate error

Hi,  if you mean by entering the username and password, then yes, what has changed though is that I now get the ssl certificate error

not really, meant the part about

PHP CURL HTTPS causing exception SSL certificate problem

You need just to set cacert.pem to curl.cainfo.

  1. download http://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem and save it somewhere.
  2. update your php.ini file by adding the following line:

curl.cainfo = "C:\path o\cacert.pem"
